Hi All.

On my 2005 BMW V8.

I have had the engine check light come on and using the RSW diagnostics it has said.
"O2 sensor circuit bank 2 upstream sensor. last occurrence - maximum signal"

So, I sourced an upstream senor and changed it yesterday.

I changed the offside (drivers side) sensor before the cat.

I did my test drive yesterday and this distance (around 10miles) normally would bring the warning light back on. After the run, no warning light and I was comfortable all was sorted.

Yep, you guessed it. Today within 1 mile engine check light on and RSW shows same fault.

Have I changed the wrong one?

What should I look to do now?

Many thanks for any advise...:(

ok. I'm onto it.
will clean MAF tomorrow and inspect/take apart and put back together the air inlet pipe and air filter assembly.

thanks.

question.
if it is an air leak or MAF or PCV, why is it always the same O2 sensor going off?

No idea, mine does the same but no check engine light comes on for mine....

You may need to reset the fuel trims...

ok. that will be plan b.
I am on a mission.
done the fluids the other day.. All well, many thanks.

Ah! what a mistake to make. the simplest of things!!

Changed that one (can just do it past the driveshaft) and all ok after 12mile run.

If this is it, I owe you a pint. Many thanks indeed.

regards

ok. so after a good few more miles, all is fine!

So everyone on the V8,

Bank 1 is the side of the oil filler cap!!

it does help if you change the correct side!!

Many thanks again.

any tips on getting them out, i tried to change my downstream bank 2 sensor and its having none of it?

Hi Holiday chicken.

I got the car warm, say 1/4 on the temp' gauge.

Disconnect the cable and use a ring spanner.

Position so a sharp shock with a small lump hammer and all is well.

Make sure your spanner is a good fit...

Best of luck..
