:doh: Stupid question, but has anyone removed the rear number plate? Mine is looking really tired so going to order a new one online. Are they held out with those sticky backed foam things, or some kind of hidden clip system? Don't want to brute force it only to find some elaborate clips behind.

Blimey storm thats a bit of an overkill i find a 3ft crowbar is normally more than enough, But you do have to be carfull you don't pull the fooooking door off.
 
I believe you need some thin pliers (i have siruses) and pull it gently from the side so it slides out...
 
Run a long flexible kitchen knife (bread knife) up behind the plate and cut thru the sticky pads
 
pour hot water over the plate (try to get it down behind) to soften the adhesive, then pull.
simples.
 
Side here, little screw on the plate holder...whip em out sideways...dunno what u foreigners use...
 
Will have a new numberplate yeah, when I order the thing. Trying to find someone who will do the square shaped plate for the rear with a Land Rover logo on it, seems they have every manufacturer except Land Rover on the sites I've found. Googling as we speak.

Thanks for the tips, I'll use a bit of everything, will try side to side and upward with the pliers and also some hot water for the adhesive.

don`t think that`s legal though, i could be wrong but i think you can a gb type plate or a blank numbers only style one...
 
Really? They all seem to be offering it. My current plate has a land rover logo on it, and it's been there since I bought it so must have been on a while. Its never failed an MOT yet, and never been pulled up about it. Demon Plates seem to offer the logos without any warning about legality. Will have to look into this.

You will notice that they are sold as a "Show Plate" - which means - not for use on the Public Highway.

Only thing you can have is the correct colour, font supplers name and postcode plus a GB/Euro logo

In order to minimise vehicle cloning, an increasing number of plates are made of a honeycomb material that breaks when you attempt to remove it from the vehicle
