Been out with the kids this weekend, came across a West Yorkshire Police van doing its public service guff, but did get a couple of things from them.

First up, Vehicle Watch.
Big fluorescent Yellow Sticker in the back of yer motor, apparently if the police see someone who looks under 25, or if its out late at night, it will get stopped and checked, may, or may not work for you.

Second up, free security screw.
Yup, they is giving away numberplate security screw sets to reduce the chance of number plate theft, got meself a few sets.

Apparently the Vehicle watch stickers and screw kits are available from yer local police station/office.

thanks love free stuff
and i have a great hook bolted in the ground and a great big chain around rear cross member (they would have to take the drive) and it was cheeper than all the security on the market

Stoping anyone that looks under 25? Are they saying cause I'm 23 I look like I've stolen it,

lots of works have sticker on vans "If this vehicle is seen between 8pm and 6am please stop and verify drivers details"
the Security screwas can be had from Halfords

Got followed by the cops when driving my bosses brand new disco 3 hse on private plates. Followed me for about 3 miles until I turned into an ag dealership. I was 22 at the time and looked scruffy.

If you're under 25 then you wouldn't be displaying a big yellow sticker

Seems a bit ageist to me.

If your under 25 you can't have a sticker, thus can't have a police deterrent for stolen vehicles. Maybe they should think up a better scheme to help everyone. Under 25's already get raped for insurance.

Secondly, it's suggesting under 25's do the most stealing.

They cost £1.50 for a pair here. Avon and Somerset Constabulary - Vehicle Watch scheme

I wouldn't mind being stopped.

I've just got out from a meeting with the local police. Landys being targeted for thefts of vehicles and parts are on the increase again in Bath, Peasedown, Radstock, Trowbridge, Frome and North Somerset.

I have asked the police to come onto LZ and Landywatch to try and work with us to help us keep our landys.

I have also asked if they can tug over all landys they see that are being driven at night.

Seeing as it's my only vehicle it gets driven at all hours but don't mind getting pulled a time or 2

derbyshire police gave out free smart watering this weekend :D got my rangie and 90 done aswell as extra for the house :) also numberplate protectors and discounted disklocks rate good of them :) can't do any harm plus got to look at some rather tasty landys :p

I bought my 90 as a keeper but reading this section, I'm starting to have serious doubts that I'll be able to even keep hold of it for any length of time.

Could it be that it's just a question of time before it gets lifted - Disklok/Clutchclaw and all?

Some thieving lump of ****e is bound to take an interest in it sooner or later. :(

Top tip!
Brother in law, a few years ago worked for Powerminster in Sheffield and had a shiny 1.8 diesel Escort van, parked on his drive.
Any how after it being broken into 4 times in 2 months and tools and parts knicked.
He hot glued two brand new razor blades to the inside edge of the door handles one weekend!
Anyhow, he woke up on the Sunday morning to find blood all down his van door and on the drive!
Revenge is bet served cold.
Lol
