Hi folks. My build is coming along. Slow at times but I’m blaming that on the pub being open again. I rebuild the engine, Box and transfer box. And it’s back in and running now. Came up with a plan to use a newage 1:1 transfer box to get the drive to the back axle. Wasn’t sure at first. But then found a lad who had do the very same. And reckons they are perfect. I’ve change the setup I’d done with a panhard arm on the middle axle and made a centre carrier for the prop using the front transfer box output shaft. The splines are the same on both ends to take the flanges. Welded the inside one one. And turned the dog gear off so a bearing slid over. Going to make some new trailing arms now with Johnny joints. I’m pretty please with proportions. Put a 2” body lift on too to help clear the cradle for the other transfer box. Just got 1 prop to sort as it has a 1480 series joint on it. I shortened a prop for between the two transfer boxes. I’ve run it up without the half shafts in. And it’s all good. Still a bit to do. But there’s light at the end of the tunnel

Ah and making a liner for the back of the cab. I put stuck carpet protector the the body panels first. The used expanding foam. I’ve cut it and sanded it roughly to shape, I’ll take it back out now. It’ll be in 4 sections. I’ll finish it off. Then spray glue 0.3 fibreglass mat to both sides. Then use 4 way stretch fabric on the face.

Quick Q on the rose joints...
Do they have to be clamped both sides?( u shaped bracket)
Or would this prevent more articulation.

Yes they nip up tight on the ball and the carrier moves freely around that. These are m22 ones from McGill motorsport I bought the spacers for them on the axle to pack them out. They aren’t expensive. And I turned some to suit the existing mounts where the A frame would go

Front prop is still off it but took it for it’s first run in the street. I’m Pretty please! I need to knock the pump back a bit like. Here’s a short **** video . It’s the only way I could do it

Keep the suspension arms the same with Jonny joints each end. Nothing will impeded the axle movement.
I was thinking that. But I think I read somewhere just to put them on one end. I was thinking also about putting a rose joint on the axle end and a Johnny joint on the chassis end. But I had a look about and there wasn’t much on a setup like that

30 years ago that racer ran rose joints front & rear only for ease of swapping. They do make a noise though when they have a slight wear. (This motor would do less than 20 miles a year on road for mot purposes)
Things may have progressed on reliability
 
I’m on fitting the wings up before I paint them. I thought I’d have ago at making extended wheel arches rather than bolt on ones. I’m intending the change the discos category from M1 to N1 llight goods. The rules for the IVA are different for N1. M1 the arch has to cover the tyre. N1 it has to cover just the rim . If I’m reading it right. Has anyone any experience if that’s correct thanks

Few updates and pick your brains. Biuld is coming on. Slow going but I altered the winch bumper that I’ve had on her for years. The body need a 50mm body lift to give more clearance for the other transfer box. So the was a gap from the bump top to the grill. And I had to extend the width. Finished it in raptor paint. In on building the flat bed. I’ve fitted the old winch from the front , under the bed on the back the made some a removable panel as I wanted it hidden. I’ll take it all back of when it’s fitted up right a raptor pair it to match the front. Making a stainless steel water tank to fit between the body rails as I’m intending to Build a demountable camp body for it. Got the cab interior nearly done fitted an android screen on the dash for sat nav , phone etc, just got rear glass to get, some to trims to do for the back panel and recover the seats

and this is a I presume vacuum hose to a switch on the heater box behind the dash. I can’t remember where the hell it went or even if it was connected. The heater works fine. There is a tee on the vacuum pipe to the brake servo but it’s was always blocked off

Well it took a tad long than I was thinking but she’s done and on the road now. The IVA was nowhere near as bad as I’d thought. Failed the first time on a few bits but passed the week after. It got issued a new ViN and ended up on a Q plate, I’d have like to keep its original plate. But such is life. Running it as a flatbed but I’m building a demountable camper body for it. That’s not far away from being done now. I’ll give it a good shake down tho before I head off camping in it
