Getting VERY excited down here , except I still don't want to do those rocky steps ! ( see pics on page 126 ) wimp ain't I lol :eek:
 
I only have 46 pages on the thread ... I don't have sigs turned on ..

I assume you mean Hollinsclough .. something we need to discuss! If you're in a group that's 'doing' that set of steps, there is an easier way round so you can easily miss them. That sort of thing has been thought about .. and you should be put in a group that will take your apparent or stated abilities or preferences into account.

It's weird, I 'do' anything, and having to tailor lanes so that they're not too hard or will break others vehicles is a bit different for me, but I have led groups with an L322 and P38 'newbie' drivers around most of these lanes, a few bog-standard Range Rover classics, lots of standard Discos and a couple of Freelanders .. Series, Defenders (90, 110 or 130) driven reasonably will have no problems .. :)

As with anything there's some risk, we can't control your feet or steering wheel for you, but honestly, it'll be challenging, and if you listen to what the group leaders say, it'll be relatively safe and very satisfying!

Above all it'll be fun ... ;)
 
Just a little bit of snow then..

Not much .. we were the first through all the places with the deep snow banks and, albeit after a bit of shovelling and winching, we easily got through! Now the work's been done anyone can get through, even Freelanders on road tyres. (Not being disparaging to freelanders, I mean ground clearance)

All the snow that DavidSally experienced on the roads two weeks ago is now gone! It's only shaded places and the lee of walls, and unused lanes that it's stayed in.

I wasn't suggesting for one minute that you'd be responsible for my driving skills - or lack of:rolleyes: will go to the spreadsheet and just check out what I filled in to make sure I'm with the newbies as I've no deep mud experience , but I will face any challenge head on and give it my best shot , just got a 7 hour drive home and I don't want to trash my axles or transmission .

Sorry, I wasn't trying to disparage anyone's driving, or infer that you're not capable or willing, I was trying to say that for anyone with notalot of experience or confidence, there'll be help available if they want it, or we notice they might need it! Just that I've had experience where less confident drivers sometimes mess up their feet/hands and accelerate where braking or even doing nothing is way more useful .. :)

Very little mud at all in the Peaks, mostly rocky. 'course there's some mud, but absolutely nothing to worry about, usually nothing more than tyre sidewall deep, at the bottom of the tyre I mean .. ;)

A Landrover only does (mostly) _exactly_ what you tell it do ... 'cept on sideslopes, in snow, in mud, slippery rocks .. :eek::D:)

See , I'm really liking the look of the ' steps ' above ( Roych) but the other ones look well steep , sidestep snapping buggers..:D

Sorry mate, Roych is TRO'd until May sometime .. I used the pic of Roych to show how we've led standard vehicles down tricky bit, didn't mean to misinform!

Roych was, obviously maybe, on the route but due to the TRO, which we went by to check yesterday, it now can't be used .. same as Chapel gate! Two of the best lanes and we can't bloody use them, makes me sick ..

Anytime you're thinking of coming down, and they've lifted the TRO's, I'll take you round a few if you like, including Chapel gate - you can't do Roych without Chapel .. if it's convenient! ;)

So looking forward to this now, pics look easy enough for my Defender, discounting the driver of course :eek:

I dont mind any of it, except ice, dont like trying to steer a sledge :D

I dont mind mud as long as I dont have to get out of the Landy. Wouldn't want to attach tow ropes in a bog :eek: or a river :confused:

I dont have a sun roof to climb out of if it sinks in a lake either

I'm with Mud Fever though, I didn't like the look of those really steep steps, wouldn't have a clue how to drive up/down them
