Was thinking may time should have some decent ish weather then, plus gives me more planning time.

Chat to boomer...see how long his took actively to organise it ...reckon youd need a good 6 months plus you need to plan around all the landy shows thatll be taking place round the country....sort out charity etc and i know accy is thinking an lz meet bigger and better at the bristol show

Noooooo- need a good year's gap and to appeal to the widest spectrum of people you don't make it difficult to travell hooge distances in winter weather and limit those who would camp either

3 to 6 months is sufficient or interest could wane over time, it's something I'm very aware of if Chippie Run three ever happens as it'll be a two day event that'll take at least a year to bring to fruition ;)

Might be a bit cold for the southern softies ;)

I dunno, we survived the cold wind blowing over the Dorset hills ;)

I'd be up for this, helper, leader, hanger-on, whatever. Can't see many lanes being very useful round Doncaster, though I know a fair amount of North Yorks and Peaks lanes and routes .. ;)

Reckon I could co-erce sister into letting us use a (very well drained!) field to camp in though .. but again it's probably way too far from anywhere with decent lanes.

Cheers Paul. Where is this field? I could probably get use of one near Barnsley but fair trek to the lanes then

Between Rossington and Tickhill on the B6463. No amenities, just a relatively open, well-grazed, flat field.

something near bedale would be good,,

halfway between yorks dales and north yorks moors.. could do a trip in each direction over 2 days, half of group goin each way so we dont clog up up the roads or lanes..

110 seems to be talking an awful lot of sense here - did I say that out loud?

If you want to attract people from distances the driving weather has to be decent.
If you expect people to camp you don't want freezing temperatures.
The laning part doesn't have to be difficult, just interesting or give alternatives.
The after laning 'do' could be the most important part and you might attract people who would come to that without doing the laning.
You're going to be restricted on the numbers that you can take laning by the numbers of leaders and tail enders that you can recruit.

there must be a few suitable campsite with facillities near ,got to be better for most than bare field

If its put of season try doing a deal for whole site...lots of sites have statics to rent, tourers and camping...thatd cover probably 90% & the others would probably go looking for a nearby hotel.

If you split your accomodation and party venue, even if its close, it means you lose half your group very early and those with kids will disappear whereas if its all in one place the atmosphere is great

That could be alright if we go the the peaks about an hour away.

How about the first weekend in may??

That weekend is the May Bank Holiday weekend- may run into trouble with crowds going for the weekend and booking places to stop plus traffic for driving back home

id agree with that ,the social side is very important :)

Actually, if it's Peaks, bro-in-law has a farm at Crich, they own the whole bloody hill! That's even closer, but I'd have to check whether they have anything suitable for camping or that's simply flat enough!

I'll make enquiries straight away.
