With my ears ( and hearing it in the flesh & driving it ) id go with the bent valve & the noise is the piston hitting it ?????? have i any hope of the piston being ok ???
I was forced into a deep flooded trench by some one who had no idea how wide theyre corsa was just before it happened but have been wading in loads deeper without hassle.
I guess if the valves are bent then it must have taken on water, how else would a valve bend appart from cambelt failure. oh well head off it is then.
Also if the pistons dead can i just replace that one or would it differ in compression & need rings on the other three ??

ive resigned meself to the fact the heads coming off ( will sort that oil weeping out of head gasket at the same time) but what about my piston question ?

if its been hydrauliced ,youll have to look ,depending on replacing piston depends on condition and size ,if bores and ring in good nick just swap old rings onto replacement piston,i may have some suitable parts if needed

Sounds like a bent pushrod In which case won't even need to take head off.

so whip the rockers off & check for a bent pushrod. will i know if a valves bent from that too or is it a head off & look job - sorry but im a newbie to ohv engines

wind it over and watch each valve fully open and close first ,then check push rods ,vavle caps etc before head removal
