Thank you, that was my thoughts about the ABS. I have sourced a good condition low Mileage VCU that is affordable, will maybe buy it and fit it while I try the overhaul on the current one. Inquired from Land Rover and they can supply a brand new one at R10K which is 614 Pounds about.

When fitted don't forget to do the one wheel up test to make sure it's within the limits

Ok excuse my ignorance. Can you explain the within limits part, what are the limits?
Here have a look at this
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/vcu-torque-test-results.109486/
The short answer is once the test is setup with the wheel jacked up and the bar/weight attached. It needs to fall in something like 30 to 60 secs for a VCU to be considered within its limits. I think the wheel needs to turn from a 45 degrees angle to a 90 degree angle in that time. If I am not correct somebody will correct me shortly

I have done the test and the outcome was that nothing happened. Looks like the VCU has seized. I removed it and took the landy for drive. Noticed the radiator fan came on just after start and the check engine came on for a moment and went out. I have a replacement temp gauge so will replace if required.

That's grand! You could try a bench test now if you have time. See how bell do it in this quick video.

SO I have finally managed to resolve 99% of the issues, no oil leaks no rattling and she drives like a dream. Had her washed and now she is looking pretty.

I am busy trying to convince my wife to allow me to save a 1800 Petrol model. So far no luck but she is warming up to the idea, got her to take the white one for a drive and she loved it, so maybe I will convince her yet.
