Number plate was in the windscreen and that was a test fit for a winch tray :p
:)

[Thanks for that :) Are you ok through MOT with no number plates or bumper ?]

look harder, look harder,
he had his bumper taking a rest on a nearby wall,
coz stone walls dont normally have disco bumpers on `em.

seriously, I never knew winch bumpers extended thet far foreward..

live `n learn each day eh..

I chopped it back a bit in the end ;)

I'll be taking the 2 front wings and picking up a bonnet and 2 front doors next week for a swap. My doors are fine but they both need the power window motors and door cards , plus I need a OS mirror, so for 50euro each, i might as well swap them completely

Picked up the rest of the panels today :)

The bonnet could do with a respray but at least they are straight.

Hopefully next week I'll have them on the car ;-)

Good thread supercharged16v, will be interested to hear how easy it is to swop out the panels.

Just read this from the start, brave brave man but well done. Looking forward to the finished result.

Thanks guys :)

To be honest, even though I found parts cheap and all, at the end of the day I think it would be cheaper to get one that was running !

...but where's the fun in that ? :D

I've got something I'd like to ask:

I've got the electric sunroofs on the car but they are both broken.
I can hear the motors spinning but nothing happens, and I can push up the front one from inside.
I was told that some plastic clips must be broken.
Any advice ?

Panels off quite easily. Much easier with front bumper off first

These after an hour and a half of work:

Yeah well, we've got other problems to worry about here rather than rust.

Burning sun destroyes everything in its path ! Leave your car out for a month in August, and pick it up next month with half the plastic trim parishing like crumbled bisquits and see your rubber trim shrinking...
Paint gets burned, dashboards go bad and lift or crack, seats crack , light lenses fade, black plastic bumpers turn grey... You name it !

Glad there's no rust to add to that equation as well :)

LOL..
we`ve had fog, rain, then rain, then more rain, and its still raining with possable snow on sunday..

all this on the "sunshine coast"

:)

glad to see your getting on very well mate.
discos looking good now.

Thanks mate, it will look better after its finished, but I need to stop spending now for a while.

Last thing I'm doing to it at the moment, is timing belts and sunroof mechs !

Come on you guys, there must be someone here who's taken an electric sunroof apart before ! :)

LOL
dare not even think of taking apart or even opening my sunroof today.
snowed during the night,
had teaming halestones just a while ago,
now breezy (ok, bloody windy)

BBC Weather : Clacton-on-Sea

get the right tools for timing belt change,
I made my own :)

good luck,
and keep it touch.
