sh&t, you got serious! You think he bent over the engine and his hair fouled the serpentine belt pulling him into the viscous fan, chopping him up and blowing the chunks through the rad?
number one on the list and he was rendered unconscious ...

I concur grrrrrrr-rrr, its almost like those magazine stories from the seventies about people self combusting and disappearing into wardrobes......oh, hang on that's f#cking Narnia.;First time we've lost a member halfway through their first post.
not the persuader then?I'm an "Influencer"
I'm sorry for the incomplete thread the site kept returning back to page while trying to post I hope the repost gives full pictureWhen the top of the pump goes back on there is a bit of metal with a hole that needs to go over a peg. Miss the peg and you're going nowhere.

As others have said, the top of the pump may be incorrectly located, also if the FIP has been removed completely are you sure the static timing is correct?I own a P38 Range Rover manual Diesel 95 model. I had been struggling with a leaking injector pump and it removed for service and had put back in and after running the car a couple of weeks it started leaking again. This time around I took the pump out myself and took it in to sort the leak out and upon putting it back in started leaking while cranking the engine and so I took out the pump and sent it back in again. Upon getting it back put it back in and had a go at starting it and when the car started it has low idle and won't respond to any throttle action. Apologies for the mouth full but what's my problem.....apart from me causing it lol
Okay and I the case of this happening....what would be the next move? Was the pump put back in using an adapter and dial gauge to get the static point of injection correct they cant be just refitted any old how.
The pump was leaking from one of screws on the top of the pump and then the second mating face from the top of the pump. Then it presented a leak on the head of the pump....I know, you must be thinking that's a lot of leaks right. Now there are no more leaks, just the idle and rev problemWhere exactly was the pump leaking from?
I suspect I may have compromised that. So what would you suggest as a plausible solution? As others have said, the top of the pump may be incorrectly located, also if the FIP has been removed completely are you sure the static timing is correct?
Compromised what? If the static timing, you need the special tools to set it up. Have a look at the workshop manual RAVE for details.I suspect I may have compromised that. So what would you suggest as a plausible solution?
Ebay is your friend, but really you need to put it on diagnostics. My problem is I'm all the way in Africa, Zimbabwe to be more precise and don't know where to start to source that special tool....
