You think he bent over the engine and his hair fouled the serpentine belt pulling him into the viscous fan, chopping him up and blowing the chunks through the rad?
sh&t, you got serious!
number one on the list and he was rendered unconscious ...

I own a P38 Range Rover manual Diesel 95 model. I had been struggling with a leaking injector pump and it removed for service and had put back in and after running the car a couple of weeks it started leaking again. This time around I took the pump out myself and took it in to sort the leak out and upon putting it back in started leaking while cranking the engine and so I took out the pump and sent it back in again. Upon getting it back put it back in and had a go at starting it and when the car started it has low idle and won't respond to any throttle action. Apologies for the mouth full but what's my problem.....apart from me causing it lol

I'm sorry for the incomplete thread the site kept returning back to page while trying to post I hope the repost gives full picture

Well, we're up to 2 pages of wandering off topic, dicking about ans p!sstaking before we've even got the question out. That's about average.

So, top of pump hasn't been touched? Ignore my earlier answer. @wammers is the diesel God, hopefully he'll put in an appearance.

I am guessing you haven't got new chains on the car? What lift did you set the static timing to?

Hey hey, the wanderer returns, welcome.
It sounds like the top of the pump isn't refitted properly as you said grrrrrr. If it's been opened to do seals, I bet they've not checked the pin in the hole.

Was the pump put back in using an adapter and dial gauge to get the static point of injection correct they cant be just refitted any old how.

As others have said, the top of the pump may be incorrectly located, also if the FIP has been removed completely are you sure the static timing is correct?

Where exactly was the pump leaking from?
The pump was leaking from one of screws on the top of the pump and then the second mating face from the top of the pump. Then it presented a leak on the head of the pump....I know, you must be thinking that's a lot of leaks right. Now there are no more leaks, just the idle and rev problem
