@#$%... Mechanic just called... "M" & "S" blinking and can only move at 1st gear when he was gonna take the car to check fuel line pressure... Gonna have to sort this out first...
Cylinders had grooves in them when we opened it up... Overhauled the engine and now response is much better... when on the move...
Standing start is still hopeless and downright hazardous as the acceleration from 0 is terrible...
Any suggestions??
Incidently, do you ever get the two gearbox-related flashing lights (M&S) on the dashboard? This indicates a gearbox fault and usually puts the gearbox in "limp-home" mode. This mode means the 'box stays in 3rd gear only, so it would affect the vehicle performance significantly.
Thanks for the feedback... Will definately consider the Nanocom... where will I be able to get it?
As for the M&S light... it did light up a few months back but I couldn't remember if they were flashing thou (any difference?)...
the car can get up to 100Km/h and changes gear thou...
Tested the car today on a steep slope... it's ok when its moving but its a different story when it's stopped on the slope...
Even with pedal to the metal, the engine barely responded... The car will actually roll back 5 to 10 feet before it starts creeping forward ever so slowly until it gathers some momentum... then its ok....
Still waiting for the quote...
Called Bearmach and Difflock but they both don't have Nanocom in stock...
Bearmach did mentioned that they do have HAwkeye... Is it any good?
Can't seem to find any info/comment in the forum...

Hi I am new to this site and joined to find an answer to the exact same problem that you have. My disco will not reverse over a speed ramp from stop in normal ratio, mine is also a TD5 Auto, but is fine on the flat, I have to engage low ratio to back up any hills or go forward up any from standstill. Once it is moving it goes normal and flies on the motorway smooth and responsive to 80 mph and over, I was thinking that the gearing was mapped too high or that the clutch plates are slipping. I had the wiring loom replaced due to oil. In the short period I had it before new loom we lived in a flat area and never noticed. Any progress you make I would be interested in. Regards Paul
