evening everybody

got a problem with no power recent things ive done
put a recon injector (nearest rad)
new spill pipes
new glow plugs
it was running fine until i stopped the other night to put diesel in then i had no revs beyond 2000 and smoke that smells unburnt.
i put a new filter on and no different.but the turbo doesn't seem to start up ive checked the hose and its in good condition, but doesnt go hard on acceleration
Ive checked fuel receipt and i did put diesel in.

it is a 98 dse any help would be greatly received
thanks tim

pipe under intake manifold to top of fuel filter....may have disconnected it during your work....

Get some vac pipe and replace it, the ends fray or the rubber perishes and it can fall off or send false readings back. Occasionaly get clogged with oil from the intake so take off once in a while and blow some air through.

A tank of duff fuel with water in it or bacterial growth. Duff in tank pump, turbo pipes delaminating inside for starters.

pipe from manifold to fuel filter has been replaced
newish in tank pump
turbo pipes are fine
cant see it being duff fuel as it ticks over the best its been since ive owned it, since replacing injector.
fuel looked clean when i emptied fuel from old filter into a tub.
thanks so far.

What number injector was it you changed?

I would guess as he says injector nearest rad. That the spill pipe has been leaking and as that injector is the only one that has a recess that holds the leaked diesel. He has changed it thinking the injector was duff.

all is healthy on the spill pipes, injectors etc ticks over really well, it will rev to 2000 no more,no warning on dash, it seems as if the turbo is not working at all.

It should rev way past 2000 rpm even with turbo disconnected. Are you saying it won't rev past 2000 rpm static or under load?

wont rev past 2000rpm static with grey smoke, no smoke on tick over.

Take the turbo pipe off the manifold and try it, if it revs freely. Check that turbo is actually running. Take the pipe off the turbo and try to spin compressor with your finger, it should spin freely with no binding whatsoever. If that is ok. Check for a blockage internal delamination in turbo pipes. From your location you don't live in Blackburn by any chance do you? :D:D

Have you tried blanking off the EGR valve exhaust feed? I had a similar problem a while back where it wouldn't rev up at all. Lot's of stuff for this on ebay or you can make your own blanking plate.

took turbo pipes off again all ok on pipes and turbo.checked 4th injector that's ok. so i set off to a garage 1/4 mile away, never made it it felt like fuel starvation, so i took in tank pump out put the electric plug back in turned ignition on and nothing happened so ive got a new pump coming at 12. then hopefully off to work i go.

If the engines hot nothing will happen, it only comes on with glow plugs or when engine is running. Did you check the fuse and the relay before you took the pump out?
