Looking for some advice as I have just got my Freeelander td4 2004 back from a so called mechanic? I put the car in to get a couple of small jobs done and one was to fit a new fuel pump ( wheel arch ) The mechanic told me before bringing the car in to make sure it was low on fuel { not something I normally do } Please note the car was running great before putting in to the garage as I recently gave it a full service but never got round to changing the fuel pump due to work commitments. Anyway got he car back and now wont rev past 2000rpm and engine light comes on. The mechanic did tell me that he replaced the fuel pump and the left running for a while to work on other cars and forgot about it., he said it was coughing a spurting and told me to bring down diesel to put in, which I did and drove it away with the above symptoms. I have now fallen out with the so called mechanic due to this and will never take my cars back to him. Anyway I think because he let the car run low on fuel that it has dragged up crap. Should I change the fuel filter first to see if this helps? or is there anything else I should be looking at?
