Hello to you! I purchased the discovery td5 new back in 1999.Two years ago I replaced the ace system with anti roll bars! I also replaced the air suspension with springs.Since over two years I have had battery problems.Going flat after just a few days.Recently I think I've discovered the culprit! There has been a regular chunk sort of noise coming from the Wabco air compressor unit which is placed under the drivers side (LHD) I picked up a tip from a forum explaing that I should start the car and immediately switch it off again. That stopped the noise and since then, the battery has been behaving it'self! My question; I would like to disconnect the air compressor unit but am afraid that might also affect the ABS.The ABS, I believe also has a connection to the box containing the air compressor? Am I right in assuming this? Any help, greatly appreciated!

I pulled the plug on mine & re-set the motor with a nanocom so that the vehicle knows its on springs
= no lights on the dash I never had any issues.

Whatever you end up doing just make sure your insurance company is happy with the mods.

A local LR specialist recommended I changed to coil springs but my insurance company wouldn't have covered me if I removed the air suspension and they wouldn't have been happy if I messed around with the ACE system either which thankfully I don't have.

Not sure how any of these mods are affected by the new mot rules either.

I informed my insurance company when I changed to coil springs and they just charged a one off fee of eighteen pounds for the amendment. A lot cheaper than £300 for a new compressor.

I'm keeping an eye on this with some interest the project td5 I've just bought has got an issue with the ace system and its whether to fix it, rip it off or as I've been advised change the belt and pulley and disable it with a nanocom ...

Who advised you to do that didnt care about your safety at all IMO... only two ''clean'' options:
1. fix it (the best and cheapest option if you know what to do)
2. convert the vehicle to classic anti roll bars(which is a more expensive downgrade)

many other tricks are possible but neither of them are 100% correct IMO

It depends on how long the previous owner has been running it with leaking pipes  and where it's leaking from

The easiest fix is new hydraulic hoses

Mine were all split where they entered the block. All hoses went to the tip as did the end retainers as they got in the way of the converted fittings

Don't worry as and when I my hands on it plenty of brain picking will commence, I've got a 300tdi to finish first

Cos he always gets up late and he drives like a loon down narrow winding lanes!
That’s just Cause and Effect :)
