Got the car home on a trailer. If I buy a Disel BECM engine ECU Lock Set Kit, Does it just fit in and work straight away or have I got to get other things programmed.

Diesel ECU isn't the issue. Keys are locked to the BECM so you need a BECM that works with the keys and after that you need to get the security code from the diesel EMS and write that code into the BECM. You can just get replacement keys from the dealer but as you're no doubt aware, the previous owner will still have his and may have a grudge.

That is the only time I'd say buy the becm, key, ecu, door handle & ignition set.
At least this will get you started but the vehicle electronics will be a mish mash, but can be addressed later if needed. This also stops the previous only from using the keys they have to nick it back.
There's more than enough knowledge in these forums.

How about contacting the previous owner first, without disclosing your location,he may sell you the keys for a small consideration.A mate bought a Citroen without keys for next to nothing, contacted the last reg.keeper, turns out it was a company car and he had the red key and a few more, he put them in the post foc. Lucky man.
