I wouldn't find it strange if someday I read a post telling us you got your hands on a G-Series engine

How do you find this stuff? Do you call dealerships to see who has what items left around?

And how do you know that such items were even made, what are the source of information you consult?

What a nice nice job you are doing!

They were made because old worn versions are fitted to his car ;)

Think he has the dealer parts database and RAVE manuals

i reckon LR pay him!
I reckon he's got shares in Landrover by now!!!!!:D
:scratching_chin:that's an idea to get more funds :D

I got one proven "obsolete hunter" - Duncan and Brit-car :) . Sometimes I use U.S or Australia Dealerships/ eBay. Also I receive a calls with information about bailiff sale ect.

LR Technical Bulletins, Dealer dartabase, RAVE, Google and my friends of course :D

Yip, they know in 2000 (probably that was a secret cooperation with DeLorean and Doc. Brown :D ) that I'll buy and old ex German Freelander in 2008 and start all this insane fun. So guys starts to preparing 8 years earlier :D

You should keep me informed about facelift stuff so I can start sorting mine out when funds allow ;)

Simon, there is very little nice rare items to facelift (body), during to LR policy and EU regulations. In case of engine/gearbox you got plenty mods from BMW guys. Third party tuning part market for M47 is quite large.

But if you're looking something specific, let me know. I call "The diggers" :D

LOL. Stock upholstery looks very bad after that winter. It will be whole new, just need to wait for my leather. Ordered from Mercedes Benz. Black Full grain leather.

For future assistance for complete interior in 5dr freelander we need 205 sq ft of leather (19 m2). This will cover:
- both front seats,
- four door cards,
- both rear bench parts (40/60)
- Steering wheel
- Gear knob (manual)

30 pounds per meter, so material will be about 570 pounds + 400 for
sewing and assembly in upholstery workshop.

Bad people try to kill my landy
Totally mess up clutch replace job, and now they said that my PG1 is broken
Main shaft bearings rattles. But this is impossible, how gearbox can fail when it sits on table by 3 days.
No sings of wearing in oil (clean and gold), and no problems and noise before that job. :suspicious:

When idling there is a loud rattle/vibration, but it also occurs when you turn the steering and pas pump works.
They should flat fly wheel as new clutch plate is quite larger, but don't do that...

I left my FL in garage :( and say that must be fixed because job is failed. Next news on Monday

How can something work when it goes for repair and be broken when it's done? You sure they didn't drop it when they took it out?

I how can It rattle more when you turn the steering?

That's the point.
I don't know, casing looks fine, its' cleaned and nothing bad can be seen by eye. On the gearbox side they only clean it from dirt, clean and lubricate bearing yoke and that's all. I don't keep them for whole time (i need to work :D).

Probably because engine stress is change. It starts to rattle when steering is on full lock, rev's are changing a little.
I personally think that something was wrong when assembling. Maybe clutch cover, or something else.
The other fact is that they don't flat my flywheel (but I ask them to do it!) before fitting new HD clutch. It is a little bit wider than stock, so don't match previous "footprint" on fly wheel . Maybe this can cause a problem.

Yes when gearbox is idling , when clutch pressed - quiet. When i press and relase clutch fast there is not rattle, but it can be back when i make full turn of steering
Also it sounds for a while when changing gears.

So i think this is not gearbox itself (rattle backs when engine is stressed by PAS) , but some kind of vibrations from wrong insecure or bad secure element.

I still have a spare one in my shed....
Might not be good enough though. I know he likes his things perfect :)
