i have an 02 defender 90 i know this is basic stuff, but could anyone tell me the oil filter rererence number for a halfords or champion filter.if i want something made by ripspeed for a little boy racer car i would be flooded with info.but as for something engine related im drawing a blank, also my truck has a private plate no idea of orginal reg number. so my local lr dealer doesnt seem to be willing to sell me anything. its driving me mad,any help would be greatly welcome.thanks in advance for any help.

Don't even bother with Halfords. They don't even list the Defender on their on-line site and can't identify parts for a TD5 Discovery which is a similar engine. Personally I never use them as they are just so expensive for items such as oil etc.
Use a local motor-factors or on-line Land Rover parts supplier and use the engine / chassis number for reference. A 5-piece service lit (consisting of oil filter, air-cleaner, fuel filter, rotor filter & sump plug washer) will only set you back between £20-£25.

Engine? TD5 I assume?
You could give your LR dealer the chassis number......problem sorted

part should be a ERR6299

as above us lr parts people you need two in my opinion esr6299 rotor filter and lpx100590 filter canister

Halford do good socket sets when on offer.... thats about it for Land Rovers

but how boring if everybody googled and didnt ask questions there would be hardly anything on here

Don't be silly, 'where can I get an oil filter for my TD5' isn't something that requires the attention of the populace of LZ.

If he doesn't know how useful a thing Google is, then he will be back time and time again with questions like this - I'm doing him a a favour. ;)

I like daft or easy questions... they are normally the only ones I get right. Lets have more of them I say :D Its either that or sit next to my fat cow and watch soaps... simple eh :)
