hi everyone, im new to all this so please bear with me.
i have just sold my 300tdi 90 to make room a 54 plate Td5 110 CSW.
im begining to think it was a mistake!!!!!

i have never drove a td5 before and i have founf my 110 so gutless and down on power.
i find when driving it is so slow on take off when setting off till the turbo kicks in and seems to have huge turbo lag. its strugles to do 75mph and its seems to have an intermittant slight misfire on tick over.

Anyone any ideas?

i have google the problem and found problems with oil finding its way to the ecu throught red connector (no oil on connection) and disconecting MAF sensor (no diffrence).

i would be gratefull for any help.

thanks,
jason.

sounds like summit is amiss.

Was the 110 stood up for a while before you bought it?

have you checked all the turbo pipes for splits or air leaks?
could be a fooked turbo check it for play in the spindle

thanks all, wasnt stood before i bought it. its only got 48k on the clock surely turbos dont start to fail that early?
but to be honest it seems as if the problem is before the turbo kicks it seems to take an age to rev up and get to a speed for the the turbo finally kicks in

I had the same problem on my TD5... Whilst messing with stuff i prob should leave well alone, i took one the intercooler pipes off the one directly under the turbo...
Noticed it had a big blister on the inside... Replaced the hose hey presto runs like a new landy.. :D well almost... :p

I have a 52 110 TD5 and have driven others and whilst they have all had turbos which cut in and out when I was`nt necessarily thinking they would , none of them have had the problems you suggest, which do sound turbo related.
I think I`d be tempted to take it to a specialist and ask them to drive it - if its as bad as it sounds they will get a good idea of possibles from just driving it without doing the full chin rubbing diagnostics.

Check for oil in the injector loom. Its a common problem and easy to fix with loads of threads about it.

Also check your MAF sensor. Mine was nackered and that caused a delay in accelleration. Thats also an easy fix, but hard to diagnose unless you have engine diagnostic equipment like a Nanocom. If you do replace it, make sure you buy a genuine LR one and not a cheap one off ebay.

You could also try cleaning your MAP sensor, which again causes your type of symptoms if its dirty.

Another possibility is a faulty EGR. The best bet is to remove that altogether and replace it with a blanking kit. Again this is cheap and easy to do with loads of threads about it.

Your best bet would be to find someone with a Nanocom or a garage who won't charge a fortune to plug it in and check the fault codes, but my money's on one of the above.
