hi my p38 4.6 developed a misfire,so i ordered a lead set from fleabay.fitted them last night but couldnt start the car to see if ive solved the problem because the battery was flat.tried this morning after an overnight charge, the engine is spinning but not a hint if a spark.i,m off to work now but am i correct in thinking the engine has immobilised itself, any ideas before i come home and start pulling things down.thanks.

If it had immobilised itself I am sure you would have a message on the message centre informing you of such!

had a quick look when i got home tonight,no fuel at schrader valve, nothing to do with the new leads.

Had the same trouble myself, ended up the new fuel pump was gummed up, I put it down to contaminated petrol. First to check it the fuses and relay,

I once pointed put to an apprentice that the middle lead always goes to the coil, he was carp at making me tea too!

Does the petrol spin if it has lost sync?

One of em does one of em doesn't can never remember which way round it is. But as the Motronic and Diesel are Bosch and the GEMS is Lucas. Seeing as how the Bosch diesel will crank but not start if out of sync, one would expect the Bosch Motronic petrol to be the same. And the GEMS not to crank if out of sync. ;);)

That makes sense. Got a feeling the Motronic code might not be rolling too.
