Hi all,
New to the site!
Very long story as short as possible... May elaborate when I regain the will to live.
Bought a brand new 90xs in march 12. Numerous faults; leaks, break downs, cat falling off, fumes in cabin, leaks, strange noises, oil leaks, numerous damages while in care or dealers...
Land rover replaced gearbox, transfer box, brakes, a pretty endless list until eventually they admitted defeat and have now given me a replacement almost a year later.
Sounds good except the replacement also leaks!!!:

The leak I'm sure is coming in from the windscreen exactly as the last as I can see it trickle in just beside the heated front screen, down onto the foam seal, across onto the hinge bolt, running down plastic dash onto door stay and dripping down onto floor mat.

Should I just seal the screen with arbomast/ captain tolley's? Landrover tried in vain last time despite this description and covered everything in sealer, damaged the dashboard to the extent that they had to replace, everything except the window rubber. Can't face it all again?
Any advise or is this just typical of land rover and defenders?

Where are you?
There's Landy dealers and Landy dealers.
Roger Young employ a full time leak specialist who cured my 110 XS (took him 2 weeks though!)

if it were me, id take the replacement back annorl.

Just an idea! :D

Hi, thanks,
Up near Glasgow.. nearest dealer workshops have been friendly (although unable to fix the issues ?) body shops not so good. Don't live near a dealer so handing car overs a pain.
A leak specialist sounds just what I need!
Arghhh!

Can't face taking another one back.....(even land rover said the first one must have been a Friday car)
Think I must be mental; I still want one!

you must be mental to not take it back!

Its a brand new f$%king land rover that leaks! I know that land rover dont build the most sturdy of motors.......but its brand f$%king new man.

You must have more money than sense!

My TD5 leaks a little round the door seal but its 13 years old!

If everything about that car wasnt perfect id be taking it back until it is, or id be getting some money back on it.

Your xmas crackers fella! :5bwilly_nilly:

I know, I know, your right!
Just can't quite believe they have supplied me another brand new vehicle that leaks, again!
Feels like ground hog day!

Take it back! It's all very well saying its a landrover but it's a new feckin landrover not a 30 year old one.
Also would you want water in all the mysterious lecky bits they come with now? I wouldn't.

When u take it back tell them u have had a friday one now u have a monday one but u would like a wednesday or a thursday one then it should be ok

Who's the dealer ??

yeah but you'd still take it back if you'd spent 25K on it right?

bought 6 glasses from Ikea last week at 75p each, when unpacked, 1 was cracked. Took it back for a replacement. Probably cost more in diesel but its the principal.
I'd be camping out in their showroom making a nuisance of myself if it was my motor, till they sorted out.
