I was looking around at getting a Disco 2 for a while until I found a really nice 1999 P38 Autobiography for sale. I went to look at it today and ended up buying it and I'll collect it next weekend.

It has a couple of little issues. The heated front seats don't work but I've seen some guides on how to repair if I really want them.

The other one is the Alpine sat nav unit. It doesn't have a map disk in it. What do I need to get it working?

Here it is:

Nice. !!

The seats are easy to repair. biketeacherdave has done a how to on it.

I got my satnav disc from the bay of e for a tenner.. 2010 map never had a problem with it. i have a different screen in mine, but can try burning a dvd for you.

Nice looking motor. Is it still on air or coiled.
As Adam says get a disc of the bay or it could be the sat nav drive in the boot, remove the the drive to make sure it's plugged in, make sure the there is no red light on the front before removal.

It said insert disk on the screen. I've read there are a few different versions of the disk and my search on eBay seemed to only produce disks for the L322.

Looks nice!
I love Stormers on a P38. Light grilles could do with a paint though :D
As Adam i also got an updated disk off the bay. Happy to burn a copy for you.

That reminds me Adam iv got to come fix your mums seats before the winter gets here and redo yours with the uprated stats must fix a date when your not ripping your classic apart

If you search through my posts ive recently posted a link to the 2015 sat nav disk.......im writing this on the train so apologises for the lack of help

Looks like it has been someones pride and joy - full history etc?

Does she look used and abused?! Partial service history from LR and indys. I will be doing all the filters and fluids on her this weekend before I go to the LRO show.

The wheels sold it for me. I think they suit it perfectly. Agree on the light grills, they are very faded and will get a fresh coat of black spray :)

Funny how people can't read posts properly - nowhere did I suggest the vehicle looked used and abused - quite the opposite in fact.

Try and see it as a compliment, if you can.

Didn't mean it to come across that way. I thought you might have noticed something I didn't :)

Funny that you are in Poole, that's where I am getting the Range Rover from, Route One cars if you know it.

Yes, I know exactly where they are and haven't heard anything bad about them. Looked on their website and it's all tasty high end stuff, that's probably why your intended Rangie is such a cracker.

Didn't want the black L322 V8 then, '06 for around £14k:)

There were some nice cars there. I tried to get a go in the Merc SL63 AMG but he wouldn't have it ;)

I liked the L322 he had, and the Defender. The blue looked great in person.

I picked the car up on Friday and all was OK until it got cold outside and I turned the heater on, no hot air blew out and then the engine overheated! Yesterday I replaced the thermostat and there was a huge lump of melted plastic stuck in one of the smaller connections going up to the cabin heater connections. Still not sure if that has fixed the cabin heat yet.

I've also changed the pollen and air filters to try and help. If I still have no heat what could the problem be? A blocked coolant pipe or a HeVAC blower issue?

Also the dealership fixes an ALARM FAULT warning but it came back after I super locked the car. I've ordered a second hand ultrasonic sensor of eBay to hopefully sort that.

I've never superlocked the P38.. if the lock fails in that position its a whole new ball game in getting the door open..

having learned the hard way, if someone wants to break into a car and starts out to do so, the harder it is for them to get in the more mess they make of the bodywork, fittings, interior.. i had a golf GTI back in the day which got broken into for the denon pull out stereo, which was pulled out and locked in the glove box while in the cinema.. the mess made of the door and dash, it would have been cheaper just to leave freaking door open and let them help themselves

Yeah I see your point. I'm more worried about the alarm module failing whilst super locked. I'll try and clear the message then just normal lock from then.

Have a search on here. The ultrasonic sensors sometimes play up. I'd be more worried by the overheat.
