i think you correct...but what goes on re dpf is for emmisions test/mot install..then remove after...very common pratise in hgv world..(where dpf has been norm for ages in london)
 
I keep my cats under a bench as 1985 doesn't need them

Or cut it open and remove the gubbins and weld it back up?
 
strangely enough i was talking to my mate, who owns his own garage, about this tonight while he changing a dpf on a customers car.

I suppose you could just do the tried and tested cat and dpf on for the test and the take them off till the following year?

Bit dodgy of you have a smash etc tho I imagine

he was talking about having to remap it so the ecu wouldn't keep overfuelling the engine etc........ too many variables so he deemed it to be not such a great money saving exercise.

not dodgy..last thing they would look for...

as i said standard practise to fit then remove...at £3000-£5000 for exhaust just to av romanian pikey nick it and weigh it in for £100..so...
 
An I right in thinking an MOT tester cannot remove anything, and can't fail something they cannot see? If that's the case, just fit a 'protective cover' over it...

yep that is correct, although could they ascertain whether you have one fitted from exhaust emissions etc?

i dont know, i am just wondering
 
It only applies to those that were fitted compulsorily from new , so if it had one , not as an option , then it will need it to be functional on test.
