I suspect DPF were fitted to FL2's onwards.

Our FL1's are too old for them, wether L series or TD4.

Came in with Euro 5 around 2009 I believe, although some manufacturers fitted em before this.
Best get out with the waxoil and polish tomorrow to make sure the old girl lasts me out.

Very bad news indeed -
The Government have announced they are to change the rules on checking for the existence of a DPF if the vehicle left the factory with one fitted.

To take effect from February 2014.

See here for their Press Release of 4th December:

Surely no Freelander 1's were fitted with such a device?
Just what I was thinking , FL 2 later models , this device has allowed lower road tax , but is high maintenance

I'm just hoping that we don't have to re-fit EGRs next. ;)

It's already hard if not impossible to remove the EGR valve on more modern diesels as it flags a MIL event. Normally the P code translates to "Insufficient Exhaust Gas Recirculation". Luckily the Freelander 1 was type approved before that little bit of legislation came in.

There are ways round that little problem, common on Transits;)
