Hello new to this site, I have a series 3 Landrover which means the world to me as it belonged to my Dad who passed away a year ago. I have questions that I need help with. Can anyone tell me which oil is best for it, my Dad always used to say the rougher the better? It has a gas conversion which I run it on most of the time. Not sure which oil to use and how often should I be topping it up?

Welcome to the forum, Claire! I'm a newcomer on here myself and there are many people keen to proffer their valuable knowledge to best answer your questions.

What part of Cornwall are you from? I lived in Seaton, three miles up the coast from Looe. REALLY miss the place!

I hope you'll thoroughly enjoy your Dad's old motor!

Thank you, welcome too. I live in Looe now myself, love Seaton, great for the dogs.
I'm not sure how to use this forum properly yet? But getting there.

Haynes manual will tell you all you need to know, should find one of them on eBay.

Hello Claire''

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear of your loss and glad you want to keep your Dads spirit alive with his old series 3.
The oil you need is 20/50 mineral oil which you can get from any motor factor or try Halfords Classic 20/50 mineral oil.
If you intend changing you will need approximately 6 litres and a new oil filter.
Hope this helps, and if you need any advise then ask in the series Landrover section...

p,s check your oil once a week and also your water...

I'm still trying to work my way around this site, perhaps you could help. I need to find some recommendations for servicing my girly, her number plate is grl, hence her name. I've had her MOTD which cost me a bomb as she needed welding and also they weren't Landy guys more into cars so took ages to sort her for me and they messed me about a lot, but at least she has 5 months mot left. What I need is to try and find someone localish to help me out. I need someone who knows about land rovers, who I can trust and who won't rip me off and perhaps explain a few more things to me ( I do really want to learn about the engine, hence the Haynes guide I have just purchased) I am in Looe Cornwall, prepared to travel for the right garage. Is this something I could ask for on here? If so can someone advise me how to do it?

If you ask in here you might get some worthy responses.

You are heading in the right direction. A good LR independent is what you need, there will be members that know of such people in your area. Not me I’m afraid, but keep searching.
Good luck with the family Landy
