Hi all,
My 99 Freelander mk1 petrol needs new brake pads plus the disk behind the hub which protects the brakes is also very rusty and needs replacing. What is a reasonable price to pay at a local mechanic......not main dealer obviously.
Thanks.
The original pads are handed, so you can get them the wrong way round.
the oems i bought were all the same so you don't have to faff getting them the right way round.
they were made by Pagid, good pads and reasonable price too.
mud shield/stone guards are best removed ,more often than not disc is worse on the guard side ,i mostly remove them
I used pagid ones in mine, they seem to be good quality. OE on a lot of cars.
I'd only expect to pay 1.5 hrs labour for front discs and pads on a freelander. They're just bog standard brakes like most normal cars on the road, the electronics should make no difference to the quote so don't accept it as an excuse to up the price for a disc and pad swop!
it took me 45 mins to do the front, including cleaning the caliper slides and squeal shims.
nowt out of the ordinary
I have just changed my front pads on my TD4 06 plate and I have changed many disc pads on many cars and I thought how easy it was to do do and how easy the calpers went back,
In all about Half hour each side.
Cost was £18.00 for both sets.
They're on bonus don't you know
