Not just his memory, minds gone altogether  ;) :p
A recent post of mine in the RR section.....

I may be surrounded by sinners, but my faith remains strong for I love you all....

“Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.” Hebrews 2:1

"Before investigating, find no fault; examine first, then criticise. Before hearing, answer not, and interrupt no one in the middle of his speech. Dispute not about what is not your concern; in the strife of the arrogant take no part.” Sirach 11:7-9

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

“And if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

“I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest, says the Lord God. The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal… shepherding them rightly.” Ezekiel 34:15-16

“You have been told, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: Only to do the right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

“Who among you is wise? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom.” James 3:13

SO, I may be among sinners who feel coils are acceptable, but in all we do, we must be tolerant and repent, but if you must slap the face of those damned, then seek redemption and I shall absolve thee of thy sins, for only those who ride on air are welcome in the house of the worthy.

In all probability.....long story - short: 14 years old, charging battery's in a model boat, boat exploded in my face and threw me back 15 feet onto concrete, banged head, blood from ear, now have difficulty with short term memory and sequential recall, its called Ante-retrograde Amnesia.....my brain has difficulty converting the recent short term memory into long term memory....

So, yes, I probably don't remember who it was exactly, but I do remember it was mentioned!
Wow, interesting. I'm similar. About 5 or 6 years ago I had a ski crash and was knocked out at about 35mph. For months I had head aches and could not remember the names of people I'd worked with for years. The Mrs kept telling me I was repeating myself, but obviously I didn't believe her. Had headaches for months. Went to docs who sent me for xrays, but said I was ok. Never been the same since. Much better though and not repeating myself anymore. Unless, the Mrs has got sick of saying 'you've just said that'! :D

Do you know the good book from back to front?

I rechecked the timing, advanced it slightly and it puffing white smoke under throttle but with no noticable change in vibration, so I put it back to how it was.

Maybe a bad injector?

Got some you can borrow to test if you like - you'd need new copper washers ( or anneal the "old" ones.... )...

So, I pulled the injectors from the old engine as they were known working. There is a landrover dealers a few hundred yards from my house, so I nipped in to grab some more injector copper washers. I explained the problem and that I was going to swap the injectors to see if it made a difference and he said non genuine washers are "a load of ****e, we only use genuine". With that and £2 lighter I left with a bag of genuine washers.

When I went to undo the fuel pipes from the injectors, the injectors moved, even though the clamps were tight. I put the new washers on the old injectors and it seems to have worked. Not sure if its the washers or the injectors, but so far so good.

Genuine injector washers only from now on.

Interesting to know. cheers.

Its not fixed.

Started it this morning and it was the same as before. It seems to get slightly less as the engine warms up. It feels almost like when an injector is cracked off to bleed it, but not quite as bad.

Next thing to check is valve clearance I suppose, then its possible injection pump issue or head gasket. Failing that I'll just sell it as its supposed to be enjoyable, but all I'm doing is fighting a losing maintenance battle which is starting to cost more than its worth.

Did you put the injector dished seat washers in the right way up, and made sure that there is only the one in each hole?

Tonight has seen me check valve clearances (twice), strip the front of the engine - test running it with various componants removed, and check the timing again. Everything is as it should be.

The engine mounts are new, so possibly contributing? But I've changed plenty of engine and fitted new mounts without issues.

My only other thought is maybe the clutch is out of balance. I've read a few things about it, but they seems to be in the 2000rpm range, where as mine is from idle.

One other thing is that maybe the fuel pump or cam pulley are on wrong? I can't remember putting them back on, but I'm pretty sure the cam has a dowel peg so can only go in one place (I set the cam to tdc before removing the pulley and didn't remove or turn the cam before refitting the pulley). Same with the injection pump, removed while in the tdc position.

Its getting to the point of not enjoying owning it now, it leaks oil already because of the crappy designed seals and I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle to just maintain it, let alone try and tidy it up.

Pulley on cam is doweled and can only fit one way.....the position of TDC is for the mark on the pulley to be in-line with the pointer moulded on the bolt hole peg inbetween the cam pulley and FIP pulley.

FIP Pulley at TDC is when the locking pin can be inserted all the way in at the 10-11o'clock position.

Too me it's still a timing issue. If injectors seated correctly, no air getting in or out, ****ty filters. Valves all seated correctly. What else? The chances of it being a clutch balance issue is almost nil. It worries me also when you said the injectors were lose, ok you changed for genuine which is right, but what loosened them you said you tightened them up a little bit more than usual.

I'm at a loss too, I'm going to give it 500 miles to let the newness wear off, then see what it's like. Only other thing I can think of now is its developed a blown head gasket some how, even though I didn't take the head off.
