Exactly. An ecu can only get the best out of the hardware. You would need a vnt for a start, or a bigger turbo.

well I can't say im suprised at you comments ;) so I guess the best thing to do is get a video of it in action...
We go out Friday nights so I'll put the option to him :)

I do like the comment about more BHP than a F1 car LOL... but I'm sure your right... aero-dynamics of a brick....

BTW, terminal velocity in air is about 122 MPH.. so it would not actualy achieve what he says falling off a cliff :hysterically_laughi

More comments required coz I'd like to print this off and show him its not just me whos a little sceptical

Its def possible, but you would either be running on the absolute limits of the turbo and fueling, with an ecu flashed to run an older tech engine with euro 3 controls. Or would need a vnt, larger injectors, a fmic and a td5 ecu heavily mapped with a seperate boost controller to manage the vnt.

I can't see what the point of the new ecu is anyway

It's only deciding where and when to put the fuel

Any ecu could do that with the correct programming but it's not going to bolt on 100bhp, it's still the same engine

Can't bear to think what the Propshafts were saying

Got to 100 in my disco, 3.5 on 33s with a few inches lift, just to scary man I had to slow down

Somebody needs to bang their td5 (manual please) in 5th gear and see what speed it does at exactly 2000rpm and then we can work out rpms for 135mph and then discuss how many rods would be through the block!

They do go about 500mph when they are on the fight to US for distribution

Is he normally trustworthy? Id be inclined not to belive him. My v8 would touch a ton then really struggle past that, the new fenders sit at 95 reasonably happy, but cant imagine what 135 would be like to drive

I doubt the gearing would allow 135mph, diesel fuel burns a lot slower than petrol, diesel doesn't lend itself to high rpm on a std 2.5 litr 5 cylinder engine with a rotation mass meant for torque.

The "book" speed for a TD5 is 98mph isn't it?

I have driven at an indicated 90 mph in mine, but not for long. I resigned myself to travelling at 75 mph (again indicated - must try watching a GPS ) max all day, but happy in the knowledge she's a Land Rover, built for the Roving of Lands unlike the poxy front wheel drive ****e which passes me on the m'way :D

135 from a 2 ton brick?? Hahaha now that's funny, how your guy keeps a straight face when telling that whopper I don't know!! You should tel him to consider a job in acting!!! Lol..

hell iv got a fiat coupe 20v turbo modded to 340bhp and im only getting 160!!! On the autobahn of cours!!! Lol so a disco with just a re map has not a chance of hitting 135!!

tel your mate if he wil let me be a passenger and get to this magical 135 il give him my rr classic! Lol

guys a billy bullshter im afraid

not at all.. but this one has to be one of the best yet :D

and we can't keep a straight face.. thats the problem!!

Why people have to talk balls down the pub is beyond me

I've seen a ton in my manual V8 but there aint a lot left for more and thats got 190bhp so it would take some Td5 to go much quicker

Why is going fast so important in a 4x4, I would rather say I could tow 135 cars in a line, not do 135 mph!
