I need a new set of discs for my Defender 110 300tdi, front and rear. Should I just fit standard or can I get better braking performance by fitting any alternative discs?

I was thinking something like these...

up grade the calipers if you want to improve stopping power and high quality pads.

the material the discs are made of are far more important than, drilled and groves but do help with cooling. On the down side they will fill up with mud and dirt causing a loss of breaking and causing you pads to wear quicker. Only way around that is every time you are in mud and get back home is take your tyres off and clean the holes out and the groves.

5-alive or call paddocks or craddocks and ask them they do have them. I like john craddocks site better easiers to get around , prices about the same

have you got vented or std solid at the moment ,vented are easy upgrade but need new calipers seb500460 and seb500470

Im running on standard discs and standard callipers, but the discs need changing.

I was thinking of these Paddocks Performnce brake discs which I think are made by Proline..

If I went with these, would my standard callipers be the weak link? Should I be upgrading them also?

OK, so I need new callipers for those discs, I'll add them to the list. Thanks:)

Paddocks are showing SEB500460 & SEB500470 @ £89 each:eek:

Your current callipers won't be wide enough to fit vented discs if you have solid. Use solid discs and upgrade pads to get better stopping power. Vented only drop heat quicker however in a landrover you are not going very fast so heat fade isn't an issue. Personally I wouldn't "worry" about vented unless I was looking at braking from 100+ often. Because it's the revolutions that heat up brakes.

He is going to some F1 races and towing a caravan:rolleyes:

Sounds like I dont really need vented discs. These are solid, so would they fit standard callipers or are they still too thick?

They would fit fine. Just remember to give a good blast off when you do the underside after offroading. Green stuff pads get my approval used on several track cars.
