hi, new to this site, hoping that somone can shine some light on the defender i have just bought!.........
when your driving and release the throttle it still keeps going for about 1 and a half seconds before it goes onto over run?
its a bit scary to say the least
look forward to any comments

hey, What defender is it? 200, 300 or td5?
have you checked the throttle cable isnt seizing or routed in a strange direction?

its got a transit engine in it
phoned the dealer and the bloke in service said drive it for a week, done 150 miles now and its still the same
phoned my friendly sale man then who smiled when he took my cheque for 22 and a half grand, he is as helpful as a chocolate fire guard now hes had my cash

sorry didnt realise you had a new one, just thought you meant 'new' to you.
You need to take it back and make a large song and dance about it! I would be shouting as much as poss! You bought a new warranted vehicle and that could be a dangerous fault!

not even got as far as getting mats for it yet!
the very nice sales man still has not got back to me either yet!?
the service you get from landrover dealers is worse than mercedes dealers and they are cr@p.

Transit engines tend to be more agressive as they are intended for white vans. The extra accelleration after you remove your foot is to make sure you remain 2 inches behind the car in front.

Or to get to the shops for a yorkie faster.

I drive a Transit with the same engine that they are now fitting to the Defender and if you take your foot off the gas while it is accelerating (when the turbo is working hard) it does take a second to respond before slowing down.

Check where the alternator sits, then make the wise decision not to take it anywhere near puddles, never mind rivers.

They call it a Ford engine. You could probably have them under Trades Descriptions Acts for making false promises.

You really need to go in on a Saturday or Sunday when it's busy and make some noise so all the potential new customers can share in your angst with your newly bought expensive Land Rover making sure they hear how unhelpful and un professional they are with the after sales side. Also for good measure a letter to Land Rover itself not the dealership.

200tdi are good I went out in one
just before I bought the 1994 300tdi
I was impressed by the performance
the engine had just had loads of work
done on it but it had a very sad falllen
