So where is the nice solid steel bumper you can use to push things around and not worry about the body work?

And where are you meant to put your cup of tea when you are fixing the engine?

Can definetly see some Discovery in that

Totally defeats the purpose of what real Land Rovers were built for. The only good thing it could possibly do is bring down the buy price of the latest defender to a more realistic price when this shape is launched.
Agree with you John looks like another cheesy knock off like the Toyota.
You really wounder why they need to put their energy into creating another soft roaded when you will have the range rover, range rover sport, discovery, freelander and evoque.
If they going to bring out a new model they need to focus on building a commercial vehicle that can survive war zones and farm land. Anything else just another soft nothing 4x4.
Land Rover should listen to their market and not make the errors they have in the past that almost sent them into financial ruin.

Evoque and new defender have one thing in common-Pile of social climbing ****

Styled for Kensington and not as a commercial vehicle in the defenders case.

Range rover sports are diamond geezer essex chav mota's

BBC News - Land Rover confirms new version of its Defender model

"[The DC100] isn't a production-ready concept but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century."

Yeah true, but at the same time the defender replacement must conform to pedestrian safety standards, meaning it can't have a nice beg metal nudging bumper, nor a flat edge for a cuppa.

Which leads me to say.. whats the ****ing point?!!

If a pedestrian steps out in front of a Depender then the result is down to Darwin if you ask me.

If, as shown, it was a front winch - that will have to be mounted to something structural - I cant see a winch being mounted to a plastic bumper.............. mind you - this Landrover .

it does have flat front wing tops, from what I can see, rather than a bonnet which covers the whole of the top surface.

looks like it must be aimed at the yank market with what looks like a removable roof or rear section. I wounder what the LWB version would look like

I had a rant too! Where would SEB fit their cherry picker, or rear lockers? How would it be used as an ambulance or fire engine? Wheres the bumper? where do you put your coffee?!?! This is all wrong. I reckon you'll see Brazilian Defenders in years to come, just like with beetles and T2s

As much as i hate to say it... they probably are - as much as we all hate it the gaylander has been a huge success for Land Rover... and soft roaders are increasing in sales for other companies so they are probably trying to build something which will appeal to all.

The defender is bought once in a blue moon by a farmer who then keeps it running for the next 30 years, most people on here are buying old defenders and keeping them running, not going out to buy the new shiny (expensive) ones.
Even the army use a host of specialised vehicles, not just Land Rovers

Problem is current Defenders are hand built. and that costs money. the markup on a defender is peanuts compared to the markup on the galylander/RR/Disco. so why build a vehicle that makes virtually no money at all??

but it is what helps sells the rest

How do you figure that then??? they're unreliable, expensive, and sales are dwindling. LR never planned to build the current puma Ford foisted it onto them. Army won't be buying them for much longer as they've proved to be next to useless in the sort of warfare we're likely to face in the future as currently been fought in Afganistan/Iraq.

Why would anyone throw money at a dead donkey..

posted on the other post then read this one lol......echo...echo....

I can see the new adverts now:

even though people may not want to drive them in large numbers ,it gives the rest of the ranges its credence

i didnt say they would ,defender gives lr a ruggedness thats apparent in defender and rubs off on other models why do you think theyve kept it so long, youll have to try harder
