Hi,

Had a few problems with my FL battery, currently its a Halfords Advanced calcium maintenance free battery, starting power 680amps (HBC096).

Im seeking to purchase a new battery but cant find anything really similar, especially along the ampage rating.

Id welcome some ideas pls.. esp on a good make, place to buy etc.

Halfords HSB096 is what you need.

thanks for info... any other alternative to halfords? I,ve heard they have a reputation about not honouring the guarantee periods, esp when they are in the range of 4-5 yrs.

I got a good heavy duty one from General traffic and its been brilliant. Only had it six months though

I bought a bosch one from my local independent for less than the own brand at halfords.

That said, Halfords have no choice but to honour the guarantee if you have the receipt.

got to agree. A 096 is what you need. Dont waste money on a bosch branded battery, buy a Halfords one because they are made by bosch anyway.

I had to buy one for my VW T5 van and it's a biggun. Got a good quality Bosch one (high end) and the cheapest by far was online from Eurocarparts and use the discount code UKMK425 for 25% off with free delivery within a couple of days. Worth a look..

The warranty is 3 years on standard battery & 4 years for the calcium one !
5 years for bosch .

My Halfords calcium battery died last year at 3 1/2 years old , Took it back they tested it & gave me a brand new one

just because they are made by bosch, doesn't mean they're the same.

by that analogy, don't bother buying a 7 series, buy a 1 series, they're both made by BMW...

Ive got the original one in after 10 years good service and its still going strong.






And if that ####s up, I have a numax on split charge with manual link as backup.
