Whats your problem with evoques? its a pretty decent car, and since im not offroading an awful lot more than a little farm track its a good choice...?
This is all just about giving it a better look for me?

Ok let’s make this clear:) I have no problem with the Evoque.....They have a place in the LR product range and it’s a bit like the Freelander, Which has also gained a very good following.
So it is quite capable of handling a farm track and probably more in standard trim, Our L322 has probably been on worse than you think.
As it’s a second car for you, Why if you want to jack it up and go all lights blazing? As you have said you are not off-roading.

I would never consider jacking up or putting a light bar on either the L322 or the P38, but....... well the defender has loads of range to do that sort of stuff, and we drive more than your standard farm track here.

I am just saying the car you have is a car to go to the local shop or up a mildly bumpy/muddy road. If you want to go big then do it. We will all get behind a project that makes sense.

I put my cars to the use they were intended and of which they are capable of in standard trim. And if you want more then get the right base, be it fast, rough or Comfy.

You will do 1 of 2 things (or both) devalue the car even more or spend more than a decent base and mods. But good luck.

That’s my 2p worth which you will of course dismiss as you are young and know loads..........but ;)

But this is my argument with the Evoque, the point of Range Rover is to be the flagship of the Land Rover brand...but all they have done is cheapen the product to allow it to be more owned by 'the masses' but that goes against the whole point of what Range Rover was all about in the first place, it wasn't meant to be cheap, it wasn't meant to be for everyone....it was meant to be something you aspired to, something to dream about.....making them cheap ruins and cheapens the brand.

Mate, if you think an Evoque is cheap we are living very different lives. Even second hand they are eye-wateringly expensive.
I agree that they on the cheaper end of LRs luxury SUV line up, but that is a long way from them built to be owned by "the masses".

I am of course talking in relative terms....relative to the FFRR, the Evoque is priced 'for the masses' so to speak.

I cerrtainly couldn't afford an Evoque, hence why my Range Rover is old - and she does go off road, we do lanes, she tows stuff and then gets filled with crap for the tip....and I am not saying that I am better than anyone else because I have a FFRR....I am just saying the point of Range Rover as a brand is to be the pinnacle of the Green Oval fleet....to add a baby cheap model, just isn't what (to me) Range Rover (as a brand) was/is/should be about.

Hey, I own a Range Rover' people naturally assume it is a £120k monster (you know the proper ones) but they own a 2WD £35k little pop-pop...and that is the issue with the Ejoke...it is a Wannabe car...

Oh blimey no - similar to yourself, I didn't pay that for mine, nor would I.....

My point is not about 'my car is more expensive than yours' it is about the Range Rover brand is being brought down from its flagship status by making cheaper models under its name....the Evoque, the Velar and Sport are all great cars...and worthy of the Green Oval...but it is not what the whole point of Range Rover was about - originally.....

Yeah, but you keep quoting cost, If someone is in a pub with a keyfob and it states RR I do not know if it is a 135K RR L405 a 25K Evoque or a 5K FFRR. Whether it be a FF or an Evoque really is not something I worry about .

Whether JLR diluted the ethos of the RR brand by adding less expensive vehicles , is another question. Do you start stating the RR brand vehicle has a minimum price point?

Cheers

They fixed the dilution by upping the price of the flagship model
The problem is they still leak and have electrical problems even before they leave the showroom

Don't get me started mate, i bought mine in Feb, admittedly used, but last week the DPF went through no fault of mine, and the dealer tried charging me 2500 for the repair, luckily land rover agreed to pay, but still, 1000 miles after it was bought and they expect a £2500 repair payment

your point about Range Rover being the 'flagship' the only people you see driving the biggest and most expensive range's is the massively wealthy, or them people that get paid way to much to kick a ball about. Its not what i ever aspired to get.

Is that the way you see it;)

Massive repair bills like that, so soon after buying it, proves its a propper range rover ;)

Minimum Price Point...hmmm, no....but the Range Rover was always meant to be the pinnacle of the Land Rover marque, unrivelled luxury and comfort along with unmatched off road ability....what price that is makes no difference, but would you consider the Evoque to be a flagship vehicle....not so much, it is a market leader in the small SUV world, it is unmatched within its class (like all Land Rovers)....but it is not a flagship car!

I take your point, but the point of the LR brand is to make money for its shareholders. As our young friend suggested, they positioned the Evoque as a slicker, trendier Range Rover option to appeal to a younger (and slightly less affluent) market who would otherwise not touch a traditional Range Rover with a barge pole. They sold a awful lot of them as a result.

plus i think land rover have realised that they need to diversify, so the evoque is different, its a small SUV, compared to a big range rover it isnt much, but next to the equivalent from ford, its just in a different league, so i think you need to look at it from a multi brand stand point rather than a simple one brand one.

However, as i said, im probably a bit biased :)

You are right, the Evoque was distinctively styled and stood out from other brands really well. The same used to be true of all LR models; sadly I think they are slowly losing brand distinction.

apologies, i dont know them, not a big issue :)

Actually it is a big issue. Although maybe at 19 you have not worked out why. I'm sure you will when you jump into bed with the a guy when you were looking for a female, or vice versa.
As for too young for this site, we have members younger than you, who quite easily manage to understand an evoque is not an off-roader , and that what you plan to do with your car is only going to cause you more ridicule.
Still , you have an ejoke, street cred must be the last thing you worry about :)

As I'm in a good mood I will point you to a site where you won't be ridiculed, as you will amongst actual 4×4 owners. I believe it is called something like baby-rangerover. There is also an ejoke owners forum.

It's a medium to large sized hatchback. It comes nowhere near being an SUV . The main reason for it being so disliked amongst Range Rover owners is because it cheapens the brand. The Range Rover is Land Rover's flagship. A hatchback will never be a Range Rover. Perhaps a Land Rover Ejoke would get less ridicule. Or even badging it as a Freelander 3. Most definitely not a Range Rover.
Anyway, good luck with it but steer clear of light bars and lift kits ;)

Well, mate, I was being calm, mate. I even tried, mate, to help you by directing you to sites that have people like you on them, mate. Thing is , mate, that you faffing about with your hatchback makes no difference whatsoever to me, mate. If our paths ever crossed, I'd be laughing at you either way, mate.
As for my day , mate, I always enjoy them.
Sleep well :)
