I like the look of the new defender and it is cutting edge but if it lasts the time the older models did and whether it cuts the mustard as a utility vehicle will have to be seen. I can't imagine seeing one with a cherry picker arm or towing rig on the back very soon. o_O

Plus 1, must admit I would have one if I could afford it, the 110 looks really nice in black , not keen on the outside lockers , also don’t have to worry about a chassis

as u say will be Interesting to see how they do over time , ie when they get to around 10 x years old inc to see what recalls start to appear

plus by that time I can see a big accessories line being produced , if not from them but the likes of powerful uk etc

If they're anything like the L494 and L405 it took a lot less than 10 years :(

You seen the amount of electronics in the new Pretender? Remote fault diagnosis plus it reports where you go and how you drive.
Like the rest f the new stuff, once it's out of warranty it will be a money pit.

You don't 'HAVE' to buy one mate, but the electronics are the future, and you can always learn how to use and mess around with all that stuff too, anythings possible with some effort like, just a new set of skills

You are quite right I don't have to buy one and even if I won the lottery tomorrow I wouldn't, I'd buy something reliable.
I used to design and manufacture computer hardware and micro controllers, I have no objection to electronics if it's reliable. The trouble is the design of the JLR electronics is pretty poor as evidenced by the reliability figures and I don't want JLR spying on my movements, it's big brother and not necessary.

may I add that @Datatek is one of our exceptionally knowledgeable members ref electronics

Alas landrover electronics haven’t got a very good track record, proof in point with my D3 , took me 2 x months to find a fault on a single wire, that’s why some members simply don’t want the large amount of electronics so keep older models

I'll take your word as I have never had need to come across him so can't judge. I'm sure you must be correct though if you have.:):):)

Was just as a general comparison, he’s 19 and very knowledgeable with the V8s , don’t mind admitting would put me to shame on those engines
