No no, it's a manual set up. While I remember tho, it has a throttle position sensor, is this only to work with the egr (now blanked off which is why I ask)

UPDATE!!!

Had some spare time and use of a ramp today so I had another go at finding my running problem. But first I took the intake pipe off the turbo and went for a quick go and there was no change, so it's not that pipe collapsing.

Anyway, we got the disco on the ramp and put some pressure into the tank and after a few minutes noticed there was a slight weep from one of the blanking bolts on top of the fuel sedimenter. So after a new copper washer and a nip up I went for a go and it's made a definite difference for the better, not totally cured the problem, but about halved it.

Whilst it was on the ramp we also noticed that the new lift pump is wet, basically leaking a bit, from the priming lever shaft. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and does it matter, I know ideally it would be all dry, but does this really make a difference???

Cheers for any help

If the fuel is leaking from the suction part of the lift pump it would cause running problems, but I have no idea if the priming leaver shaft is on the suction side.
Better to replace the lift pump and see.

its possible it could leak some oil though shouldnt if new ,if its diesel diaphragm is split and so pump has failed, up to the lift pump the system is in suction so air can enter but no leak be obvious

Hmm cheers, it's seeping out from where the priming lever shaft goes into the body of the pump.

Im sure it's a mixture of oil and diesel daft as it might sound, what's seeping out is like watery (I mean very thin) oil or black fuel. I cleaned it off and drove about 3 miles home and had another look so the leaked mixture I saw was fresh.

Yes, I'm thinking just changing it again is the best idea as the one I've just put on was a mates spare of unknown age, which leads me to me next question...which ones are the best (within reason) and where's best to get them from. I'm thinking a Delphi from craddocks???

Thanks again

a diesel leak there is a failed pump ,bottom end of pump is exposed to engine oil so leak will be black diesel

So that also means my lift pump is topping my engine oil up for me then?

There's another one on its way anyway - Delphi £22.50 just hope it comes with nuts and olives like it says.

Cheers

Well I've been out in disco a fair bit today and re-sealing that bolt seems to have given me smooth running back but she's still a bit flat compared to how she was so I'm hoping that the new Delphi lift pump will sort that as well so it will all be back to normal

Here's to hoping

Well she's sorted

Put the new Delphi lift pump on and all seems well...for now.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the replies and ideas and I hope this thread will help others in the future
