Hi, The Nav System Handbook says "Caution: Always run the engine during prolonged use of the touch screen. Failure to do so .....

I can't get the Nav to turn on when the engine is off. Does anyone know how this might be done? Thank you for reading my query

Press the radio on button (the left hand radio volume control button) it will come on for an hour. You should then be able to turn the Sat Nav on.
Why do you want to?
The warning is right, without the engine running the battery will flatten very quickly.

Thank you Dave, It isn't a big issue but occasionally I have wanted to look at a route, enter a location or similar whilst at rest. Having to put the engine on, to do so, sometimes seems an unnecessary noisy inconvenience for other persons around. It depends where it is as well of course.
The battery issue is noted too, thanks.

Hi Dave, Just been out in the cold to try the Nav System without the engine on. I switched the radio on and the Nav System logo came on for 4/5 seconds but couldn't be accessed before the screen went blank again. Thank you for your time. I guess it just isn't set up that way so I just stay noisy.

Yes! Result! I found out how. Place the key fob in the socket. Press the Start button [but NOT the clutch]. Now the wipers work, without the engine being started, if selected and I knew that before. I was parked up this weekend in some rain, so wanted to see out, did the above - and - the Satnav comes on as well. ;)
