I plan to do some work to the right side wheel arch area anyways as there is rot on the arches behind the plastic guards.

Do you have any photos of the work you did?

Are there any others here on this forum who have repaired leaky bulkheads and can share their experience?
Here you go. I done mine with the loom in place and wrapped it with a plumbers soldering mat.

Thanks for the helpful replies. The more I look at it, the more I think water is entering at the buklhead. It is only the right side footwell that is wet. This corresponds with the loom hole on the right side.

Another question:
Is it not true that water is supposed to not actually reach this area? I mean the scuttle gutter channels the water to the outside of the wings away from the bulkhead. Is it a sign that the scuttle gutter is leaking and not doing its job? There is a lot of old factory seam sealant in the scuttle itself that I can imagine has hairline cracks galore.

At the base of the windscreen, where the pillar joins the inner wing and scuttle area, there is a hole from manufacture. It *had* sealer in it, but it dries out - just like the ****ty crap the used in the gutters. The whole seam is a leak point. On my Disco 1, I had to strip and reseal the entire seam and no it's bone dry. I don't have sunroofs either. It was ALL from the that hole.

It's really common on Disco 1's, and people have reported the Disco 2 has a similar, but slightly smaller hole. On a Disco 1, the square hole is big enough to get the tip of my little finger in!

I had a close look at the scuttle/wing/bulkhead area. Is this hole here supposed to be clear??

Are you referring to this area? Is there a hole behind this seam what leaks? Are you suggesting renewing/resealing this seam?

The scuttle area is rust free and drain hole clear. Would the windscreen heater cable gland/grommet be a leak path?

The scuttle panel is designed to capture run off and it should drain away either side. The drain hole isn’t big and can block up if the scuttle area isn’t kept clean and free of dirt and leafs etc.

So its correct to say that a correctly functioning scuttle should stop water ingress into the cabin via bulkhead? THis is assuming there are no roof/windshield leaks.

If so I am thinking my first step should be refurbing the scuttle area with tigerseal.

Here, On a Disco 1 This is with the wing removed, and the plastic scuttle cover, at the very base of the A pillar

But that ENTIRE seam on Disco 1's lets water in, once the crappy sealer has dried out... it then hold moisture behind it and causes rust too.

Disco 2's are different in this area, but a couple of people have reported that they found a gap there. The water leaks in the seam, into the chamber UNDER the scuttle and drips down the footwell outer panels, rusting out the floors.

Thanks. I'll have a good look once I have removed the scuttle plastic cover.
