Hi

Going to view this on Sunday, it looks clean and undamaged in pictures inside and out, and the seller claims the boot, cills and wheel arches have been welded, and no leaks apparrent at the mo.
It will have 1 yr mot and has done 127000 miles.
It looks standard in the pics, though no view under the hood.

With regard to mechanical s, the week-points such as the transfer input gear should be sorted, and apart from any seals leaking, is there any quick obvious things to look for ref transmission wear/damage.

My question is: If it is as advertised, is it a fair price (probabaly offer £2500 at most)?

I'm not looking for anything too clever as it won't be an everyday car, something like a 4 wheel guzzi!! (got soul

also remember its a old es model will have loads of ageing electricery which could fail at any time

I payed £900 for mine.1 years ticket and 6 months tax.
Had to do a couple of bits to it,i think that asking price is heading towards top end 300tdi prices!.
Terry.

I paid 2600 for the 300tdi in my avatar, 2 years ago.

It was tidy as anything, one owner, beautiful.

I still felt I had paid too much.

Tbh for that price you'll get an old TD5, and they are worlds better to drive.

I paid £1400 for my '95 ES last year. 137,000. A bit rough round the edges but solid.

I loved my 300tdi. Thought I'd fix whatever went wrong, but then I found it needed a new engine, full exhaust and had the boot rot, I had to part with it.

I got a TD5 to cheer myself up. I never looked back. Every passenger who gets in is shocked by the upgrade, and driving it, damn it's good!! It's only small changes, but 720 changes from disco 1 - 2 is really noticeable.

When I first test drove one and pulled out from a junction it felt like it had bloody nitrous! So much responsive, faster.

Much like when I sold my 300TDi and got the Freelander....except that the Freelander is smaller.

My question is: If it is as advertised, is it a fair price (probably offer £2500 at most)?

It's far, far too much money. At N reg it's probably 17yrs old - so anything in the car that's made of rubber will need replacing just due to age, never mind wear.

Even though it might be in decent condition it's not worth more than perhaps £1500 and it has to be in really good nick for that!!

Normally an N reg TDi 300 is probably priced at £1000.

IF you buy this £3000 Disco please please DO NOT imagine that all will be well. I always advise potential buyers that they should hold back at least £1000 of their budget for repairs and servicing. Bear in mind a set of decent tyres will set you back approx £500!

Good luck

Dave.

PS If your budget is about £3000 you could buy yourself a very nice DiscoII TD5

as you say its already been welded , if had never been welded and never needed it and was mint then maybe ..

but as already said £2000 it is a 17 year old motor

I payed 800 quid for my p red 300 tdi last week full years mot with 150 thou, all welding done and decent condition for.age, also chucking in a set of modulars with all terrains for.150
