I found these spare connectors where all my towing electrics are.

Can anyone tell me what they are for ?

Early discovery had an option of a second Aircon unit mounted in the roof for hot country's but I don't think it was an option in the disco 3 .
It's really bugging me as I'd love to find out and possibly retrofit what ever they are for , mines a late 2009 discovery 3 GS so maybe that has something to do with it.

Early L319's (Discovery 3) had them as standard in HSE spec. for a very short period of time, after that, it was an option but not included in any specification or market. I specified in on both my Discovery 3's (to keep the dogs cool) and it was an either/or option in Discovery 4's - I don't think you could have the rear entertainment pack and rear aircon due to the weight, not usage of space.

Cool...
I'll investigate that as would quite like a system to install and as disco 3 models are turning to dust in the scrappers I'll get busy

My tuppence worth for that plug relates to it being used for the tow bar connection for trailers with electric braking, which are popular in the USA.

D1 option super duper rare.
D2 option pretty rare.
D3 option, std in certain models ie Metropolis.

I'm not sure the Metropolis had rear AC as standard, it was basically a 'blinged-up HSE' from memory - and only 300 were manufactured.

Yep all D3 Metropolis rear ac as std, I have one, every one I have ever seen for sale has the rear a/c, it was one of my main reasons to buy it for the dog, and if anyone asks, I always tell people it is a HSE with all the bling.
I think I have the brochure somewhere, will try and find it.
Not all D3 badged up as Metropolis are actually Metropolis, seen a few over the years that were copies.

Surprisingly last time I looked 2/3rds of the original 300 were still on the road.

I find that very interesting as mine is badged up as a GS model , but the one weird thing is my vin number is showing my vehicle as an ARMOURED vehicle, was that even a thing?

Yep sure was, see the D3forum where there is some info on them.

Edit just looked and I cannot find said info!
Iirc different load rated wheels to take into account the extra weight, RRS suspension parts as heavier duty, not sure on what else was different.

If you had a B6 armoured L319, you'd know it. I've driven a few, aside from the glass being much thicker and the rear seat fixed barrier into the boot being solid with a man hatch and small glass window, they don't really have much 'performance'...
