I was spraying some Buzzweld RE on the chassis the other day and noticed a random connector hanging loose above the rear axle. A few have suggested it might be the fuel/water sensor plug but that is plugged into the fuel filter.

Any ideas what it might be for? Pic attached.

It's the fuel burning heater pump's plug, the FBH wiring is present on all modells even if it's not fitted

Well i never knew td5s came with a pre heater from factory, I'll take a guess and say the parts (additional coolant pipes etc) are probably a little hard to come by now? Was it a Webasto heater?

they were an option, but rare in the uk but would have been webasto . You can still get the bits. The FBH is fed from the spare port on the fuel pump

Ah didn't see your picture there, I was thinking of one of the bigger ports. Might have to think about that one, sure would be nice to get into a pre heated truck, and probably a little more forgiving on engine wear during cold starts. Cheers

The factory fitted FBH on D2 was not a pre-heater cos it starts automatically only together with the engine when outside temp is below 5*C to help warm-up. I have one o mine with programmer which can be set to start without engine running, it's webasto thermo top C

hm, sure seems more logical to have it turn on some time before the engine. Did all discos come with the wiring in place for the pump and FBR or just the ones sold in colder climates? I would be quite happy with a remote or timer on the dash though. Although im in the UK I live in a very exposed high up area and even the past few days have been a pain taking ages to get up to temp.

I’ve got one on my D4 with the remote. It’s more to help the engine than comfort, although it is nice to get into it warm! I don’t think the D2 ones would have activated the heater blowers as well

As long as I could jump in and flick the blower heater on max I wouldn't mind the 2 minute wait for the cab to heat instead of the 20 mins it usually takes o_O

AFAIK the wiring should be there on all, on the D2 it can start with pogrammer to heat up the coolant but the ventilation system is not conceived to work without engine running cos it has too high battery drain ... it would kill the battery in 30 minutes , there are full kits available https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223852821571
