Hi Guys! Any ideads on this?
The fuel pump was replaced on my MY 2000 P38. Naturally the battery was disconneced during this. On re-connection of the battery my two key fobs will not operate the remote locking. Both fobs are in top condition and I replaced the barreries in one just a month ago. Both show the "red light" when pressed but will not work even when pressed in the vacinity of the RF Receiver. The keys lock and unlock the doors manually and start the car - no problems.
My manual advises that the fob is "synched" by turning it in the ingntion switch and I have tried the "drivers door lock method" of synching the fob - no good! The Test Book shows nothing abnormal in RF Memory and fuses 13 and 14 are OK. The RF Receiver is accepting a signal.
Does anyone know how to test the RF Receiver?
Would re-installing the EKA code fix the problem?
Cheers, Tony.

When you put the key in the ignition and turn it, look for a flash of the led on the keyfob, that should indicate that the system knows the fob is there and is synched.
You could try disconnecting the battery, leave for 5 minutes, then reconnect as quickly and cleanly as possible to avoid any sparking, it may clear the fault, it does on my spares dog which normally does not have a battery connected. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts at connecting the battery before everything works.

There is no LED flash when turning the key fob to start the engine.

I disconected, waited 5 mins. then reconnected four times - no luck in clearing the fault.

Do you think the RF Receiver is the problem?

Cheers, Tony.

Problem fixed! I replaced the drivers door latch, which allowed key to "synch" and I recovered my remote locking.

Hi Tony,

Glad you cleared the fault but sorry to appear dim; what do you mean by the 'door latch'?

Cheers,

D
