well, since collecting my truck and driving it home i have done the following,
replaced all four road tyress (70+mph serious vibration) now sorted.
replaced clock light, (so annoying when not working)
replaced dash bulbs with led
replaced sidelight/side indicators/rear number plate/interior bulbs with led's

replaced glow plugs (well three, knackered one,(job to do))
replaced anti roll bar drop link o/s/f knocking gone
wood effect gear shift (tricky job with HDC) in way
replaced dash switch blank (original one has cb mike holder ( easily removed and replaced with spare))
fitted cb so its a 5 minute install/uninstall so not in way when not needed

washed it many times lol

painted alloy wheels nice and shiny and clean again
replaced n/s/r bumper lightsas slight damage on purchase
purchase and remove n/s/r door lock and window regulator from scrap vehicle
(mine only locks and window cable dead) ( will be changing over tomorrow) and yes i tested window in scrappy to make sure working, plus had to drop it to remove it lol

apart from sunroof lazy and not got the bottle to try opening all the way, would need a shove to help it, this truck is now tip top, almost. but not for long, its a rover, it'll give me little, or big jobs along the road of ownership lol

not got confidence to off road it yet, apart from track to my field and in my paddock lol,
but do love driving it. more like a luxurious car, higher driving position oddly or feels higher, as lower than my old truck, but just sooooo nice to drive. i'm buying fuel just to go and use it so i can drive my freelander lol

I love the driving position too. I often walk past my 6 month old Skoda Octavia (company car) cause the 04 Freelander is just nicer and more fun to drive.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not mention that word of inferior 4x4 on here J--P can anybody really put it in the same class as a landrover

actually jeep was the first proper off road vehicle, probably out do a defender, but remember, ford and willys invented the jeep for world war II

don't matter if you hate em or love em, they were the direct descendents of all of our trucks, rover or otherwise.

oh and thankyou leeh1306, didn't want to upset a long term user, already got banned from one forum last week lol

window and door lock now fully working, only thing with this truck is the sunroof, opens a bit then needs a shove, TRUCK, only done about 3500 miles in last 8 months before i got it, done over 900 since i had it four weeks on friday lol

absolutly everything works, all lights, all windows, mirrors, etc. just that darn sunroof, seems i have a rare almost perfect TRUCK lol

I'm currently on the hunt for another Freelander to replace my D3 :(
You wouldn't believe the number of Freelander adverts where the seller keeps say the J--p this or the J--p that. Ffs it's a Land Rover not f---ing J--p
On the plus side I'm going to look at another Freelander tonight. Hopefully it's all that it appears.

hope shes a goodun, see a nice blue one day after i got this one, wanted blue but it didn't have leather. only thing against it except 30k+ miles than mine has.

lol, the first one i viewed looked great in pics, supposidly drove well, well it did drive well, except for the whining osf wheel, the clutch that slammed in (thrust bearing) and the many many other things not working, or rusting out. sunroof snowed rust when opened lol

I also thought this when I bought mine 9 months ago. Since then, VCU has gone and DMF is about to go (110,000miles, so it's had a good run!). Also, some little sh*ts ripped off my rear wiper arm
Alas, wouldn't be a Landie if it didn't need fixing every few months!

I've looked at loads over the last few months. There are some real dreamers out there, thinking they have something worth far more than they actually have. I even got offered a straight swop, my D3 an 04 Freelander sport. What sort of muppet he must think I am?
Tonight's Freelander is an SE TD4 Auto in blue. It has full black leather, heated of course, heated front screen, power fold mirrors and 16" rims. So it has most of what I want and what's missing, I'll add myself.
Fingers crossed, it's worth a punt.

I might sell mine if the price is right

sounds good nodge, mine has all that but not sure if front screen is heated. grey two tone heated leather seats etc

that one i looked at in shepton mallet, dude wants £1000, was gonna trade the maverick in for 800 cash, actually offered him 400 cash telling him i was doing HIM a favour lol, the small list before i ran like fook,

ABS light on when stopped, this really panicked me, now know its a land rover thing lol,

so the not so good points of the shepton rover

sunroof leaked rust
clock fooked, small thing, but adds up
radio fooked, as above
whining osf wheel
clutch slams on, thrust bearing? ££££££££££
rear head lining sagging, and DRIPPING, absolutly soaking wet and dripping. hadn't rained that day!!!
rear tool area, key not fitting, or fitting but not turning, probably due to siezed with rust from dripping head liner
couldn't find anything else wrong, didn't hang around long enough lol,
locked it, threw keys at dealer and got the fook out of there

good points,
had decent mileage, can't remember what but lower than my 135K (but over 100k)
was blue
had tow bar
had leather seats
had HDC

those were my buying requirements, none of the above i walked away,

except for this particular rover, i didn't walk, i RAN like hell remembering i had to go back to get my truck lol

My requirements are extensive, hence the time it's taken for my to find one. I want an auto TD4 with sensible miles. Must be in good nick both inside and out. No dents or rust on the body, no rips or ground in dirt inside.
Must have heated leather, a heated front screen and power fold mirrors. I also want cruise control which an SE doesn't have but I can retro fit that later. Front fogs would be nice too so those will also need adding. I actually want to convert the fogs into DRLs anyway. I will add a few bits and pieces when the D3 is sold. What gets added will depend on how much I eventually get for the D3.

would like to fit the integrated fog lamp bumper on the front and rear facelift bumper with higher side/turn lamps. not sure if straight swop. may get one of each on ebay they do.

finding that truck in manual quite easy, its how far you have to travel, finding that truck in auto, good luck, loads of v6 manuals, but not looked for diesel auto otherwise may have considered that. autos are nice to drive, and most of my journeys through village to pony so short trips up and down gears lol

Your requirements sound like the spec list on my XEDI - not. The old L Series MY1965 has none of those, just loads of character and never (OK hardly ever) goes wrong. It does though have DC cranked windows in the front and a DC cranked sunroof which (unusually for Freelander) works perfectly well - but that is just cos I never use it cos I know it'll break and/or leak if I do.

It may soon be betting pimped though. Some things to turn it into a posh Freelander - like roof rails & AWD. Some things to turn it into a RR - like cup holders and center cubby box. Some things to turn it into a Ferrari SF15-T - like buttons on the steering wheel and Telemetry (to make sure props & drive shafts are turning at the right speed!).

.i'm so happy to have all of those, and four working windows lol

forgot to mention before, why not fit led bulbs into side lights and just have those wired to ignition as DRL?

these are plastic base, (due to electrical contact obviously) and metal bodied. comprising a magnifiying lens on top. single bright led, work great. were about 6.50 for the pair but worth the cost. have bought other china specials for 99p for ten, these are the best i've tried in sidelights, others with four leds around outer side and one in top are great for side indicator repeaters, single top lens type for no plate.

I've just got a call from the owner of the Freelander I was looking at tonight. Annoyingly someone else has just bought it.
The search goes on. :(
