Hello there,
I wonder if anyone can shed some light on how to fix it. My Disco is 1998 and 300 series. The lock doesn't open like the rest of them when the remote is pressed. Also, neither the inside or outside handles seem to do anything. One other thing, as I can't actually open the door I'm having to remove the interior padding to gain access to the lock. Does anyone know the easiest way to remove the electric window button without harming it?

Any ideas ???

Cheers !

Alex

If its anythign like the 200TDi, you pull the trim off and it takes the button with it. Then you disconnect it from behind.

Hi Alex,

Now the other guys have sorted ya switch, lets see if we cant open the doors. This happened to my 99 Disco 2 (amongst many other things) and I was able to open the rear door by flippin' the child lock off which is behind the rubber door seal and difficult to see? If this works you can open the door from the inside. With the door open and panel removed, reach down into the bottom of the door and retrieve a bent piece of wire that is your connector to the outer door handle. Now scratch your head a little and work out how to get this poxy little clip into the lock mechanism and your outer door handle.
It took me about 6 hours, much cussin' and swearin' but I did it!!!!
Your door handles are different to mine, but I think the principle the same.

Good luck....
Roger

if its anything like my 200tdi the doors on the nearside don't fully unlock with the central locking so i just get a kid to lift the button a bit more then hey presto the doors open. new actuators aren't that dear and they are the same as on montego's and maestro's. try yer local scrappy. otherwise, get a kid ;)
