Hopefully, yours is a diesel with M51 BMW lump.
Setting up 2 genuine alternators means 220 A max.
Would you care to show some pictures on how did you attach the second one to the engine & the belt arrangement please?

It goes in place of your air conditioning pump and uses that belt and tensioner arrangement.

If you wish to keep your AC then you need to get creative about how you mount it and where you can fit a dual pulley for a serp belt.

Mine is for a 200Tdi which is a whole different ball game as it's old fashioned and runs V belts, whole new crank pulley, alternator mount, idler pulley and coolant hose guard need to be fabricated for it to work.
