Could do with some advice guys.

I have been insured with Adrian Flux for a few years now and got a renewal letter from them with a quote of £105 with a value of £3000 on my 1975 S2 SWB...seems to go up every year.

Just got an online quite from the Go Compare web site of £72 and a £5000 value....from Performance Direct.

Can anybody think of a reason why it would be better staying with Adrian Flux...its supposed to be a Classic policy with AF...but what if anything does that give me extra...I am thinking that the term classic insurance maybe a con..

Nick.

depends on the terms I guess, some insurance brokers will reduce their commission to get business.

one of my landies was with Chaucer via flux for £98, swinton offered the same premium as that was the minimum at the time, insurer was still Chaucer so the policy was essentially identical, however, swinton offered £20 cashback if I went with them so I did :D

deals change all the time and to some extent its like anything, depends whats on offer when you are looking, how hungry the insurer is for your business.

insurers may for example increase premiums for a certain type of vehicle if they are reaching a comfortable capacity of them or conversely may decrease premiums to get business levels up.

if the terms are similar cash is king imho

Performance direct seem to like motors with modifications and extras. I had a moderately modified Mazda MX-6 with business miles with them and the quote was cheaper with the mods and business than without!

If you call Flux they will probably drop their price - just don't try to bull**** them. They're all linked up by computer and know what other insurers have quoted you. In any other business this would be called a Cartel and you would go to prison for price fixing...

It's worth checking the fine print as the cheaper policy may not cover you for a lot of things and Flux have a habit of throwing in things like key cover which is pretty useless for a Landy that you can open by untying a knot and start with a thumbnail...

Very happy with my latest policy with Adrian Flux! Series 3 fully comp, breakdown cover, 3 months abroad, limited mileage AND agreed value for 93 pounds PLUS theres a very nice young girl to chat to lol

There was a not too happy AF customer on here not too long ago, there's quite a long thread kicking around on it. I chose not to renew my policy with them due to the way they handled the matter.

Lol I see what you mean, this one was a big disappointment

Hi Nick,

If you can drop me a PM with your policy number I'd be more than happy to check the renewal out to see if we can amend anything to reduce the cost for you!

Kind regards,
Jordan

I have been with Lancaster every year for a bit less than £300. 24 years old and a 200di so maybe that puts it up.

Some classic policies at the lower end of price scale have 1500 mile limit. Be sure to check what you get/want.

I should imagine you are right, going off my wifes sisters kids, premiums start dropping quite well when you are past 25, assuming clean history etc

I finally found someone to insure my 2a. Most wouldnt even quote for it as I dont garage it at night (Manchester post code). Lancaster came good. £125.
