Suppose I had the equivalent of the 3 Amigos during the week, driving along quite happily and all of a sudden the dash lit up like a Christmas tree.
4 warning lights on and the suspension lowered but apart from that Disco continued to drive normally.
Plugged in my GAP IID diagnostic and found 3 codes all relating to the Offside rear speed sensor.
Now research provided that this can be caused by chaffing wires either underneath the wheel arch trim of the front or rear nearside wings or the sensor itself.
All the wiring looked intact.
Euro Car Parts have the Bosch sensors for £21 and had them in stock'
Pulled the old sensor off to find

Sensor head arrowed should be solid round, this was one was well worn.
Code reader cleared the faults and motor now runs as it should.

@gstuart - for info

Cheers, I shied away from 2nd hand car dealers to be honest and was prepared to travel to get what I wanted.
One of the best sites to start your research from is the MOT history checker
https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
Gives you an idea of what kind of life the Disco has had.
Repairs and service can be costly and the timing belts should b changed at 105k miles or 7 seven years, the oil pump should also be replaced at the same time. If not the new belts have been known to put strain on the old oil pump causing it to fail.
This is my 6th Discovery and each one I've had had been a better driver than the previous one. I've not been let down, the 3 is a pleasure to drive, I do mostly open road driving with the auto box, I can put the cruise control on and sit back and enjoy.
This was the Rest & Be Thankful earlier today

Haven't used Prestige but have heard they get a good name

plus one what biggee said

cam belt change can cost around £800-1000

check air suspension compressor, go through all the settings , new compressor £450

suspension settings are access, normal and off road , there is extended mode but the car decides that

put it into rock crawl mode, into neutral then low , back to neutral back into high

see if any faults come up

if it's an auto get it on a hill , stop , leave it in drive , foot off the brake it should not roll back

quiet bit of road, going a few miles an hour, tap the brakes to see if u hear any knocks, if u do its the wishbone bushes

see if the brake vacuum mod has been done, pic below is the modification , black pipe

make sure the spare tyre is there

maybe someone may be near u with an iid diagnostic , as if ur interested in one can then plug it in, any faults come up is a good bargaining tool to get some money off

hope that helps a little

happy hunting

Gaz, can the IID be used on other motors in a sort of restricted mode or is it completely vin locked?

Hi-Jacker ;) At your leisure can you do me a favour and measure from the ground up to the wheel arch trim both back and front. I want to see what the difference is with the wheel and tyre set up is that I have.
In normal height mode

Yes, you can use your IIDTool BT on any supported vehicle. The basic diagnostic functions are unlocked thus free of charge.
