So today i flushed the oil and did a change, flushed the coolant and changed, bled the brakes, tidied the wiring, and a few odds and sods. Got an issue where the second alternator isnt charging, and the exciter light isnt on so i think its a wiring issue i need to find. Also i still have a problem that I had prior to all this where the lights pulse with the engine running. Im guessing earth but i have no idea why. All earth point are good, and ive added more to try and rectify it but with no joy. Any other ideas?

It could be the regulator or a diode on the alternator is damaged, does it go away with revs?

So an update then....

Wales was amazing. Done some damage such as screen, alpine glass, rear hub seal, rear wheel bearing etc etc but had an awesome time. Havent touched it since we've been back but i have a fair old list of jobs to do.
Heres one pic (i took loads but im sure you all know what a land rover in wales looks like lol)

Extreme :D

Hey Drizz might aswell ask

I'm thinking about doing some similar work to my car to take 37s

Won't be touching the chassis, just going 3door conversion and arch tubbing to take the tyre size

What arch extebsions are they?

They look ideal

All the best, Sam

The look like flat dog +5's to me.

I've just read this through (over a good week or two!) and it really is an amazing build - has it progressed any further?
Sorry to dig up an old thread otherwise :D

Ok so its literally been parked up since we returned from Wales in feb, as when we did the engine swap just before we noticed the turbo had serious play in it, but risked it for Wales but it really needed doing. Brian lent me an old turbo he had that i could send off to be rebuilt, and a fortnight ago i collected it:

So strip down commenced:

So now it boosts and therefore has power again! I did the pre MOT checks, like lights, bearings etc etc and found I need new side repeater bulb holders as they get covered in crap and are now dodgy, and of course the windscreen but she seems good to go. Also greased everything such as props, ball joints, X-Eng arms etc. I also changed the airfilter for a more enclosed one, but didnt take pics of that.
So it was time to take it home and got 1/2 a mile and turned round and came back! Got the death wobble at 30mph! Remembered id bought new panhard rod bushes for a reason! So swapped them and got her home! Nearly MOT time!

BUT....

On another note, the TD5 is no more :(

Looks like it will be a big project. No money at the mo though so itll have to sit in the barn for a few months!

So since fitting the turbo I brought it home and gave it a wash out, and the Raptor is working well.......

Then today was windscreen replacement day. Theres some rust hiding behind the rubber:

So i quickly rubbed it down and treated it, but I think next time it needs one im going to need it removed one day then have it repaired before the new screen goes in.

She was a two man job!

A nice new heated one :)

Whist the snorkel was off, i sanded that down and repainted it and fitted the enclosed filter to replace the old flappy one:

Looks much better. Ill redo the clamps at some point too as they are naff!

Anyway so its final journey of the day was to the man that decides its fate:

Thankfully with an adjustment of the headlights she passed :)

Unfortunately ive lost my job now so she may have to go. It will be last resort though as ill never get back anywhere near what ive spent!
Also the D2 has gone in for body and engine repairs so fingers crossed that comes back nice!

Soooooo an update!
Truck has had the wheels balanced and drives wobble free again, which means I can get her out on some lanes again :)
D2 is back in the barn awaiting its rebuild. Oil pump has gone so it needs stripping down and starting again!
And I have another project that turned up this week (build thread to follow later this morning):
