Dash is mostly in. Cant do the heater controls until the Mud Pod arrives and is fitted. All the steel turned up today for the rock sliders and winch bumper, with the Gwyn Lewis tray coming tomorrow.
I also got the windscreen washers working, as well as all the lights. Converted the rear lenses to have indicators and brake lights as thats normally done by the bumper lights which obviously i no longer have. Also fitted the metal push fit connectors on the axles and the tank ready for the breathers. Will do the boxes when i can get it on the ramp. Need to to the engine one yet too.

Fantastic read, just read the whole thing! Can’t wait for it to be finished! Are you painting it/ coating it? Or are you leaving it as is?

So, i managed to get magic Mike back for another day, so we have a bit of progress!
First off take one Gwyn Lewis 8274 tray:

Bolt a winch to it and offer it up:

Rig up some dodgy looking support system:

Make some supports and let it support itself:

Take one Brian and a side step, and you have an instant Tea making station blocker!

Fit some edges, and recovery eyes:

And modify Grille to fit:

Put youre feet up and watch mike cut out 8mm plate after i got bored of doing it:

And start attaching the sides:

And begin filling:

Grinding the welds:

Which leaves this:

When the light surround is fitted properly it sits perfectly under it by about 2mm :)
Also the tag at the end will be cut off obviously

Other side:

And where we left it. Tidying and support bracing to be added so it doesnt twist on the mounts. As you can see, its high and shallow :)

Also got the rock slider metal ready to go so once the bumper is done thats his next job. Then its cage :)

Absolutely delightful!

Your build is so full of "just like that" :p

Urm, small thing perhaps a little late, but, you may wish to incorporate some lamp protection? Unless the cage will sort that out?

Corners are vulnerable at the moment that's all! :)

It protudes about 10-20mm in front of the lights, which should be ok for laning then on pay and play days i can remove the light shrouds...
I was going to have wing and light surrounds on the cage but have decided against it.

Wonderful work! as per the rest of the vehicle!

I would also add some light protection, you'll soon get sick of removing it, get that magician to make some guards with some 1mm bar or something :)

Excellent work on that bumper, very clever! I have to agree on light protection! Sure you could corporate something :) keep it up,

So, more progress!

Marking up ready for the arches:

And the front done with Mikes arse!

Offering up the steering guard:

Got some clearance!

Rear Chopped out:

And on!

I think ill need some bigger wheels:

The Defender designed Mud Pod arrived:

And all the front steering protection done and bumper infilled:

Trying to get the bumper back off! It was somewhat wedged!

And off ready to have the insides welded up:

Being flapped:

Before:

After:

More soon i hope!

Ras that's incredible!

Plenty of room for, I dunno, 40" tyres?!

Looks BIZARRE having the chassis like 2 feet lower than the arch top.

That car needs some 14.5" boggers NOW :jaw:

Yeah i think im going to have to try different ones until i get a good compromise between size, looks and ability!

Excellent work, brought a flappy disc for my bumper.. glad I did as it improves it from the looks of it!
cant say im 100% set on the arches mind you.
