Hi all, thought I'd add another small update as I still have the old bus.
House buying means funds are very limited at the moment.

35's were always ment to be temperary so kept an eye out and a set of 245 KL71's came up very cheap. Bit smaller than what I wanted but for the price I wasn't going to say no.
As luck would have it I was passing near the guys house in the lorry and he kindly came and met me at a nearby services.

Was a bit worried I wouldn't have the room ;)

Then couple of months later finally cleaned, painted and fitted them.

Hopefully doing a swap with the 35's for a set of 285 Insa Turbos so will update on how that goes.

Also after a pair of empty Disco axle casings so I can start building my rear locker and front AEU2522 setup I bought off mr. Noisy.
Plus interior is still stripped while I get round to underselling the floor, on the to do list lol!

Then after all that is done I wanna start saving for new suspension. The WKD offroad stuff looks pretty cool.

Will try and be a bit better at updating from now on :)

Chris

Sooo not great at keeping this updated though in my defence I haven't done anythinganything with the Disco lol.

Completed the purchase on my first house last week so sorting out that has taken up all of what little free time I have.

Only update really is auto box has finally given up. I suspect the torque converter has had enough.
Never liked the auto anyway so manual conversion was always on the cards.
Picked up a gearbox, flywheel, bolts, adaptor plate and pedal box.
Gonna order new AP clutch kit, master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch line, Spigot bearing and rear oil seal this week.

Plan is to drop engine and box out in one and do the swap on the floor to give better access.
Also would like to finish removing the abs and fit braided brake lines plus underseal the truck but aware it's already October and don't want it off the road all winter again.

Dragging it up to the workshop this weekend and hoping to make a start next Saturday so see how I get on.

Any advice or guidance greatly appricated as always. :)

Good luck dropping it all out in one, tried that when i did my clutch and spent ages first trying to pull it out the top then dropping it out the bottom with zero success. Ended up putting the engine crane through the drivers side and using it to drop the box off.

Might be easier on a ramp?

Had the engine and box out through the bonnet on my old truck before and just caught the back of the box on the Slam panel. Hoping the body lift will give me enough extra room.
Thinking be easier to change the pedal box with the engine out the way.
Yes ramp would be lovely but not got one of them.

Pedal box should be easy enough with engine in. Can't think why it would catch on anything.

See how I get on I guess. Probably gonna have to wait till the end of the month anyway as planning to move into the new house in 2 weeks.

However after that will be looking for winning volunteers to help with the conversion lol

New clutch, HD fork, Spigot bearing and starter motor ordered.
Clutch master and slave cylinder came with the gearbox so hopefully they are alright for now.

But now have the real concern that nothing going to happen anytime soon.
Work is keeping me out in the lorry all week leaving me 2 days (sometimes 1.5!!) of free time.
Over a month in the new house and living room, spare room and landing is still full of boxes plus jobs are increasing by the day. No one ever warns you of this when you buy your first place

Desperate to get down the workshop and get dirty but her in doors says the house comes first and begrudgingly I have to agree.
Couple of mates run garages and could quote me a good deal to do the work but can't imagine I'd have the cash spare anyway plus be much better to do it myself. Nothing else to remind me I can actually do a bit of mechanics lol.

Ah well, fingers crossed me and the missus can get the house in order quickly and I find myself with a free weekend. When I do you guys will be there first to know :)

What became of the 33x12.5x15 conundrum in the end?

My mate is after a set and they're not the must highly subscribed size...

That set I bought got returned to Tyres direct for a refund.
so back on the hunt for a new set of wheels and leaning towards 285 Fedima's. However finances maybe dictate going for a set of nearly new 265 Insa turbos if I can find some.

:( i see

my mate is in the same boat

waiting for a second hand set but if nothing turns up will have to bite bullet

so regards the VJ910, do you think they will all be ****? or were you just unlucky?

Yep same problem. Guy in Derby has a nearly new set with spacers but wants 265's for exchange which I don't have. So frustrating as I'd send cash straight over for him

I really don't know. Off road they wee very very impressive. Brilliant at both muddy p&p day and on a wet winter green laning trip. But the on road vibration issues were just too much.
Plus at nearly £900 for 4 33's with rims is bloody expensive. Irrelevant of the massive wheel wobble issue I would not expect any 'new' tyre to arrive with the brand label peeling off the sidewall.

Cheers dude, will keep a close eye on them, only down the road too.
Actually been offered 5 Simex Extreme 35x10.5 on 16's. Still got a decent amount of tread left.
Only slight concern is how much clearance I'll have on 35's on a Disco with a 2" body lift.
Tallest tyre measured 34.25" and wanna fit +5" suspension.
