Surprised it didn't just blow the sprag clutch!Remember a lad long ago who complained he never got to work on automatics, because i did them all. Foreman gave him a Triumph 2.5 Pi auto to sort. Sat there revving it's nuts off and put it in D. Did it's best to push a workbench through the garage wall. I got all the autos again after that.

Two oil pumps one on the output shaft. On my Daimler, it never used first unless climbing an alp, so was effectively a 2 speed unresponsive box.It was a model 35 in those days. Very reliable if serviced on a regular basis. Maybe needed the brake bands adjusting ever so often. May get a sticky valve block now and again. Pretty easy to do if you knew what you were doing that is. If not a bloody nightmare. And you could put them in drive and bump start the car down a hill.

Not all 35s had two pumps
The Daimler 2.5 one had two pumps but the Jaguar 2 .4 only had 1
work that one out
