hi

Still messing around with the car, ive looked around the engine bay for the best location to mount the synergy box.

any ideas please where you think may be the best location as there are so many more experianced people on here and im not its nice to be able to come on here and get sound advice.

thanks guys

I just slotted mine in the gap between the ECU and the battery - it just fits sideways and is easy to get out to dial up if needed

Hi
I put mine in a small food/freezer box, removed lid and cut a slot for the cables, use foam packing for a good fit. Replace lid and strap to top of battery using a velcro strap. Keeps out dust and water.

Beat me to this question gstuart - Im hopeing to get my Synergy 2 in the next week or so.

So suggestion is an extra box for protection - any suggestion on the best way to run the cables for a neat job?

thanks all

Dave

next to the battery is a large fuse box with plenty of space inside.

i just put mine inside there, theres loads of space and it keeps any suspecting eyes off it if you ever got pulled by the fed.

only 4 screws to gain access to it and the cable slots into one of the existing cable entrys into the fuse box so its all weather tight.

thats your best bet :D:D:D

hi

many thanks as always for your help, i mounted the synergy unit inside an electrical square box.

drilled a hole in the bottom of the box and fixed it using the battery bolt, then put the synergy inside.

but now seeing there's room in side the fuse box, thanks hippo for the heads up.

well its all now fitted tried it on number 2

i cannot believe the difference, what i noticed straight away is how responsive it is and when i put my foot down if feels like a new engine.

the toggle switch ive mounted it in the centre console under a redundent rocker switch thats normally used for the electric windows, but mine is only a 3 door.

ive actually set the synergy onto number 1, very happy just moved the toggle switch to the red setting.

may i ask is this the most economical setting please

thanks so much guys as always for you great help

i will take some pics if it helps anyone of the toggle switch and under the bonnet

all the best

How you getting on with the Synergy box?

Any chance of some pictures of your toggle switch and under the bonnet.

thanks

I,ve done the same as hippo and used velcro so it wont rattle about|

I mounted mine inside the air filter housing where it'll get cooled nicely by the incoming air. Don't want it to cook inside a hot engine bay in summertime.

But have you seen the crap a filter blocks? Inc in that the oily stuff from the exhaust - it's not a cool place.

sounds a bit fiddly getting to it in there ? its not the easiest place to access

Hi

Have now fitted the synergy box and dashboard toggle switch.

I cannot believe the difference im averaging 36mpg plus on number 1,

Tried it on number 3 and found it smoked a little bit.

The performance has dramatically changed just on number 1, will pull very well but the main difference i found was from standstill.

Is alot more responsive so as im fine with it on number 1 have left it on that.

not sure if number 2 makes it more economical.

have enclosed some pictures, the box was an old electrical water proof box, got to get another one so i can cut the end out alot neater and get some rubber grommets so i can seal off the end of the box.

im delighted with the synergy, had alot of fun mounting the dashboard switch but found by adapting an old blank switch was hidden out of the way and can easily alter it if i wish to.

if anyone thinks another setting works better im more than happy to try it.

mines the td4 auto version

as always thanks guys for all your help and advise and giving me the knowledge about the synergy.

all the best

There's no oily stuff inside my air filter box & it's been there for nearly 3 years.. Yes there is some dust & dirt but you get that in the engine bay anyway.

2.0_hippo :- yes it is fiddly but it's fit & forget. Mines an auto & I've switched it to Rons maximum recommended setting for the autobox (I think it was 6 but not sure as it was so long ago) & let my right foot do all the regulating. It's neat & tidy and out of harms way.

mines an auto box td4 2002 and put it on the lowest setting via the toggle switch, red/

ive noticed the auto box sometimes is late changing gear

ive looked on the box where its got red and black settings going up to no.10 i still have the bosch maf

have you found your mpg starts to go down the higher you put the box.

found out the reason why it smoked on no.3 was one of the hoses was slightly loose, tightened it up and stoppped instantly

My autobox also hangs onto the gear for longer but this is something Ron did say would happen. A sharp prod on the go pedal soon gets it changing when you're going up a hill & it's clinging to a higher than needed gear. As for economy, if I'm gentle then it's better than with no synergy but if I use the extra performance (which was why I fitted the box) then it will use more fuel.
I'm also running an earlier synergy 1 with separate mafam so the settings on mine probably will be different from your synergy 2 but I've used Rons maximum recommended setting for the autobox.

well done mate, glad its working well....really must get round to fitting mine!!!

oh well....tried to fit mine yesterday but noticed that one of the wires from the fuel rail sensor connector has backed out of the socket and seperated from the pin and all my tools are at work and i'm off for a week  oh well back in the box in the cupboard again :p
